I recently purchased this microphone after researching many different microphones. It's awesome to use if your on a budget, but still want a quality microphone for your home studio. Vocals are noticeably different then what they sounded like using my previous, cheaper microphone. This microphone is ideal for a home studio. Also, you can't beat the free shock mount, pop filter, and XLR cable, which are all high quality. Also, if it is necessary with the mixing board or interface you have, pay the extra 40 dollars for the Sterling PHP Phantom Power supply, because it's necessary for the mic to be powered. GET THIS MICROPHONE!
It's hard to believe you get so much for the money - the mic, a shock mount, pop filter and drawstring pouch. The high quality mic alone would worth the price. It's by far the best I've tried in it's price range. I use it plugged in directly to a USB interface (GuitarRig Session I/O with phantom power) with a tube preamp simulator and vocal compressor (both by Voxengo) and it sounds great on Logic Express and GarageBand. It's slighty crisp, but can easily be EQed and warmed up with room to spare. The low end is solid too. This mic picks up everything, I bet you could even hear a mouse fart. I bought this to replace the cheaper, thin-sounding Behringer B2 Pro and I haven't regretted it once.
I bought this mic a few months ago to use at home in conjunction with my Alexis Docking station/IPAD set up at home for my own little recording deal. It's a great mic. I use it with Garage Band and It can pick up sounds in other rooms like people talking quietly but with the noise gate on in Garage Band you tweak that to pick up as little as you like. It looks cool but bottom line is, it really does work better than anything I've ever had. Well worth the 229 for the bundle I paid.
