Now you can achieve noise exterminating bliss with Rocktron's Guitar Silencer stompbox that combines patented HUSH noise-reduction technology with a noise-gating process. This combination of two noise eliminators creates one effective noise-killing device.

No matter what style of playing you do, from pop to metalhead madness, the Guitar Silencer is your Swiss Army knife for wiping out hiss and silencing awkward changes in your music. The Guitar Silencer allows you to go from heavy, all-out distortion to complete silence by muting your guitar strings. All without changing your tone one bit.

There are times when your music calls for single-ended noise reduction; that softer version of noise elimination that allows your sustain to ring out unaffected, while getting rid of creeping hiss and circuit noise. That is what Rocktron's patented HUSH does so well. Then there are times when you want hard noise-gating to chop the ends of your notes while achieving instant noise kill, first achieved in metal by Dimebag Darrell with the original, rackmount Guitar Silencer. This stompbox version provides both of these noise-reducing methods in one simple pedal that takes up minimal space on your pedal board.

Part of the Rocktron Boutique Series of stomp boxes, the Guitar Silencer comes in a rugged metal chassis with eye-popping, retro, custom-designed laser-etched artwork. True bypass, and as a bonus, you can use it to add true bypass to your favorite distortion pedal using the Send/Return jacks.

Controls for the Guitar Silencer include GATE, which is the threshold at which the noise gate portion of the effect will clamp to silence. The HUSH control determines the threshold of the noise floor you want the HUSH portion of the effect to reduce. An active LED lights up when the gate threshold has been met.

The Guitar Silencer runs on a 9V alkaline battery, or with the optional Rocktron DC OnTap universal power adapter (Product #158004).

I couldn't wait to not hear it.

from Cleveland, OH

Comments about Rocktron Guitar Silencer Noise Reduction Guitar Effects Pedal:

I did a bit of shopping around to come up with a pedal that fit my specs; I'll give a quick rundown of what I do. In my band, I trade off between leads and rhythms. I'm currently playing through a Peavey Triple-X with JJ power tubes. I've got this running into my Kustom 4x12 cabinet, with all speaker wire removed and re-wired with Monster Studio Pro 1000 cable. On the front end, I've got a Schecter Hellraiser C1 with active EMG pick-ups. First, I'll mention how I've got my rig ran. Guitar -> Gate Pedal -> Amp -> (Effects Loop) Digitech RP355 We play modern metal, and I push the Triple X pretty hard with the head gain; I like a bit of a crunch. With that being said, this thing doesn't eat my tone at all. All I did to set it up was turned on my boost channel, silenced my strings, and dialed the "Gate" knob to where it silenced any of the feedback. I toyed with the "Hush" knob a bit, and I think I still need to do a little dialing, but, it's a really simplistic, easy to use pedal. In terms of the structure, this thing is fantastic. I'm a big fan of the mechanical style switch over the electronic bullcrap like what can be found on the Digitech RP355 I'm running, as a little dust or excessive force causes those pedals to fail. As it stands, I use the RP355 for the divebomb feature alone, and, that brings me to the downside of the pedal: perhaps my "Hush" needs to be turned back, but when I do natural harmonics, they don't ring out very prominent. Could be that I just need to do a little toying with the pedal, but, it could very well just be the nature of the beast. I'm a performing musician, and I needed a noise gate to be able to withstand dragging it around to shows and performing as well as I need it to, as nothing kills a crowd faster than a noisy rig loaded with too much feedback. This pedal, for the price, will blow away the ISP Decimator, any day of the week. I recommend it to any guitarist who has a bit of an unwanted noise problem.

The Best NR Footswitch

By Mark Millan

Comments about Rocktron Guitar Silencer Noise Reduction Guitar Effects Pedal:

I bought this product about five months ago at, the color looks nice, build quality and feel are solid. When I played through it I was impressed at how clean and transparent it sounds in true bypass and the effect on and the noise reduction gate adjusted to low and high levels. I think the gate effect is smoother than the hush effect on the unit. Compared to the other pedals I've had, Rocktron Hush Pedal, MXR Smartgate, ISP Decimater as well as the Boss NS that I compared, I played direct and then with the pedals and the Guitar Silencer sounded the best, I recomend this product to anyone who needs clean guitar noise reduction. Thank You. Mark

Best on the market

Comments about Rocktron Guitar Silencer Noise Reduction Guitar Effects Pedal:

I have used several noise gates overt the years and none compare to this one. It is the most effective I've ever used. Not only does it work beautifully, the boutique styling definitely adds some old school flair to your setup. I would highly recommend this noise gate to anyone. A+ all the way for Rocktron!

IMO the best noise gate on the market

By Mitch Conner

from Columbus, Ohio

Comments about Rocktron Guitar Silencer Noise Reduction Guitar Effects Pedal:

First off, the boss ns2 sucks your tone to a certain degree, the isp decimator is overpriced for what you get and the rocktron guitar silencer is the best, I'm writing this review because I know some of you out there are kinda uneasy about rocktron, but this, PEDAL! Is by far the smartest and most reactive noise gate/ line noise reducer on the market right now. It knows when and where to clamp down on the unwanted line noise and when dialed to your liking it will also clamp down perfectly right before the onset of feedback and does not get confused on intricate riffs. It is true bypass circuitry. I got it home tried it on and off and with the knobs dialed in and I did not notice one bit of tone loss, I set the knobs to 10 o'clock on the noise gate and 12 o'clock on the hush control and if anything the hush control actually helps your notes ring true. So, Rocktron Guitar Silencer is a definite buy if you play with fire i.e. lots of gain

Better than any others I have tried

By Tison

from Havana, IL

Comments about Rocktron Guitar Silencer Noise Reduction Guitar Effects Pedal:

Doesn't seem to effect my tone just takes out the feedback when not playing. So it works great. I have tried an Isp decimator and the mxr smart gate pedals in the past and they both reduced my overall signal. So the rocktron in my opinion is the best.
