HUSH noise reduction placed between the preamp and effects sections keeps things quiet. The VooDu comes loaded with 254 presets and hundreds more are available on Rocktron's website. I've owned many different multi-effects and tone processors over the years - and still continue to buy them if they show sonic potential. The VooDu valve however has been my mainstay for the last ten (10) years. The presets are good - although somewhat overemphasized to let you experience the full effect - dial down some of the modulation etc... and your good to go. I've been a guitar player for over 4 decades (started playing at age 5) and this is by far the best processor for dialing in a specific tone to the most accurate nuance I've used yet. Rocktron has held firm on their price over the years but for good reason. The unit is not a no brainer. In order to maximeze the full potential of the unit you do have to do some tweaking, however once you find "your tone" and save to a preset - you're in. Want a killer tone like nobody elses? This is the unit for you.
With a little patience - you'll be turning heads.
