  • Different, but cool sounding

As reviewed by Alex on 3/16/2010

The rocktron utopia b100 is a different but cool sounding multi-effects processor. it's got four preamp channels. it's got one clean channel which lets you select two different clean sounds so you'll be getting two clean channels for the price of one. and it has three distortion channels. each distortion channel has a different sound. even though I find the distortion channels to be a little rough and metallic sounding. it's got some great sounding modulation effects. I dig the chorus effect. it sounds smooth and lushful. the reverbs and delays sounds pretty cool, but for some reason rocktron put a bunch of those effects on the patches on this multi-effects processor, but you can turn them off. the compressor sounds nice. and the wah effect sounds deep and versatile. but it's not a toe-tap wah. you have to program it on a patch in order to activate it. it's kind of a bummer, but that's okay, I don't use wah effects that much. if bass synths and envelope filters is your thing, look somewhere else. this is probably not for you. but if distortions and modulation effects is your thing, you'll like this multi-effects processor. if you're looking for something different, this multi-effects processor is worth checking out. but if you like bass distortions that sounds smooth and heavy, boss or korg "toneworks" processors would be a good choice for that.
