I have yet to put this case to the test, but so far (for two gigs), this case seems to be well-built and sturdy. My one critique: I'm unsure how well these cases will stack and lock together when I get additional cases; the feet on the cases may be problematic. But the value for the case seems good.
I just bought this Road Runner case. It was on sale and I preferred the material as opposed to a plastic case. The case is very durable. I only gave it 3 stars as I did not find out until I purchased the case that is only has one handle. This makes it a bit more inconvenient to carry and load. I wish it came with two handles as it would have made it a lot easier and safer then loading and unloading the case. Otherwise, it's a very solid case!
"IS THIS REALLY AN AMERICAN-MADE ROAD-RUNNER "ROAD CASE?" First, Guitar Center is extremely good to me, so, please understand that the problem is "Road Runner," NOT Guitar Center. I ordered and received one Road Runner 4U that was shipped in a slipshod box and the case was blemished. I contacted Road Runner and GC and they really wanted to help me by exchanging the case for a new one. The problem really came to light when while at my local GC, THREE, that's "3," Road Runner 4U cases In a ROW, not including mine, where blemished and DAMAGED! That's a defect rate of 75%!!!!!! Each shipping carton was in terrible shape and the impression is to me that Road Runner is just not on top of their game. Sad... Guitar Center realized that my complaint went beyond being too picky and offer me a brand-new Road Runner 6U instead of the 4U and, After Carefully Inspecting The Case, I accepted their generous offer. When I got the unit home to load it, I noticed that one of the pop-rivets wasn't properly installed and that the underside aluminum edging was blemished. Since then, tiny blemishes are appearing leading me to wonder, "Am I losing it?" ANSWER: "No!" Turns out that Road Runner is using a very cheap Fiber-board VENEER over the 1/8" plywood they used to use and it needs to be treated with kid-gloves or else it will blemish even more and the aluminim edging is really sensitive to even the slightest brush with other surfaces. I take EXTREMELY GREAT CARE of my gear, just ask my local GC about my ten-year-old trade-in's that look astonishingly brand-new! My road cases are as costly to me as they are to you. So, to reduce the inevitable "scratching and denting" that leads to what is known as road-rash, I cover my road cases with heavy-duty padded vinyl bags and I do NOT mistreat them, - "EVER!" IT would be nice if Road Runner didn't include "road-rash" before the fact. Thank you, Guitar Center for your commitment to your credo, "Our goal is your total satisfaction." As for Road Runner, "No Thanks!"
It broke at the butterfly handle that swivels where it hooks to the lid, I play every week out in the clubs and it couldnۡt take it. Iۡve had it for three years.
I picked up an 8 space at GC Beaverton,Or. about 10 months ago.Since then I've loaded and unloaded this thing at least twice a week doing road trips, and haven't had any problems whatsoever. They're strong and have handled my riggers of the road which isn't easy.I tend to get a little rough on my gear just to see if they'll do what they say. When it doesn't then I have a legitimate gripe. These things are strong.Don't buckle under the weight of amps and other gear. The handles are spring loaded and pretty durn strong. The lids have kept debris and prying eyes out like they're intended too.The rails are strong and they came with the screws for instant mounting."mine did".Other than the scratches mine has encountered. It's tough as nails.I plan to buy another"10sp" real soon, as my equipment has grown considerably large.Great price for decent equipment.
I went to Guitar Center in Chattanooga, Tn. to puchase a floor demo model of the Road Runner 8U rack case, thinking that I could save some money. I also had an advertisement from a leading competitor trying to match their price. Guitar Center not only matched the lower price, but insisted that they order a brand new case for me and have it shipped to me in the manufacturers container. I got it without a scratch on it. I had compared all of the other cases that are available from the East Coast to the West. It is the best rack case that I've ever seen and very heavy duty. Believe me, I am the most picky customer out there when it comes to my equipment. I have a lot of time and money invested in my collection of effects units, I wouldn't trust them to just any "run of the mill" protection.
This rack was resonable and works well. Its my first rack but I could not ask for more. It came with all the hardware to mount my stuff, looks good, and seems like it will last a long time.
