Yeah its a rug, and yes it keeps your drums from sliding all over the stage/tile/floors, however the rug does just the same. it is not a heavy rug which means that it does not have a quality bottom which would be good for the stage. every time i use this i have to tape the rug to the floor with some duck tape or else everything gets moved as a whole. As for the drum stopper... i feel it is only there because the quality of the rug is so poor and flat that you need to have something to keep the bass from sliding forward, instead it takes the whole rug with you. PLUS it makes it hard to put a drum mic in front which leads you to off center the drum on the stopper for the drum mic which causes more drum rug slide. HOPE THIS HELPS!
Does just what its intended to do. Keeps everything in place so it doesn't slide around. Could have a velcro strap or something to keep it rolled up when not in use but other than that its really handy. Think I will make the strap myself. Worth the money as you never know what surface you have at any given stage.
This drum rug is great! My kit used to move a bunch when I played. First the bass drum, then the pedals would follow along with cymbals. When I got this rug my problems were settled. Now I can hit the drums as hard as I want and I can be sure that the kit will not move. The Bass Drum and cymbals stay exactly as I set them up. I would definitely recommend this product to all drummers.
