Overview

This traditional Rickenbacker bass style with dot inlays and no binding was prized by Paul McCartney and Chris Squire when they got their first 4001S models in 1964. Players cherish its traditional look and rounded edges that many claim make it more comfortable than the 4003.

The updated 4003S version comes with the improved dual trussrod system. Of course, the famous solid bass tones, ringing sustain and treble punch we'e known for make it a dream. It' no wonder we™ve received a steady demand of requests to bring this back.

This design was once exclusive to the British distributor Rose Morris in the sixties. Iconic curves of maple form the body with a traditional Rosewood fingerboard. Dot inlays and no binding make this stand out from the standard 4003.

Includes hardshell case.

You could listen to 500 bass guitars and you would always pick out the Ric, just wish they would have progressed more with a 5 string, can just picture that Ric sound thumping on the b string

Comments about Rickenbacker 4003S Electric Bass Guitar:

By now you've probably seen my take on other basses, guitars and amps, and they are usually glowing reports. That's because I do a LOT of research before I buy anything and carefully consider everything first. Well, I recently discovered that one particular bass of great interest had finally come into my range of affordability, the Ricky 4003s. This is the same model that McCartney, C. Squire, R. Glover, et. al. played and made famous. I didn't get the regular 4003 because I don't need "Ric-O-Sound" (stereo), and the body edges on the S are rounded, thus more comfortable. I could only see this bass in Fire-Glo. It doesn't just pop on the stage, it explodes. At home I have to keep putting it down to do stupid stuff, y'know, like eat, sleep, etc. My other basses are getting concerned, I think. I thought I heard one of them whimpering in the corner. Actually, I cycle through them rather regularly. The push/pull tone knob opens up the old original vintage sound. That makes the tone range really, really wide. It feels good and balanced in my lap, which is the only way I play anymore, and that Ric voice is totally unmistakable and stands out differently from all the other basses in my collection. Not cheap, but worth the price to me.

Comments about Rickenbacker 4003S Electric Bass Guitar:

I had a Ric 4001 a number of years ago while touring a lot. I recently decided I needed this particular bass in my life again. My first thought was to watch for used items online and pick one up at a discounted price perhaps. In truth, I found that I could purchase a brand new Ric for the same money range right here at good old Guitar Center. I am so pleased with this beautiful guitar in every way.

Comments about Rickenbacker 4003S Electric Bass Guitar:

Ric 4003S bass arrived needing a little TLC. Some tarnish on body and chrome work most likely due to storage and shipping, but rubbed right off.
The A string had some fret buzz. Took bass to Guitar Center in South Portland where technician, James, took some quality time making fine adjustments. I left with a great playing axe and confidence in Guitar Center and the services you provide. Great staff in SoPo, especially like to give a "shout out" to James who clearly loves what he does and is quite proficient at it! Thank you!!!

Comments about 4003S Electric Bass Guitar:

I love my new Rickenbacker! It looks gorgeous, sounds amazing and plays great. I didn't think I was ever going to use the vintage tone selector, but once I started messing around with it, I loved it! It works well with older songs. It's almost like having two basses in one. I recommend getting one for your collection.

Comments about Rickenbacker 4003S Electric Bass Guitar:

This bass has been a welcome addition to my collection. The sounds that you can get from this bass can match any genre of music. The push/pull vintage circuit is a great addition. Nice growl when everything is dialed in. The bridge gets a little getting used to, but is rock solid.

Comments about Rickenbacker 4003S Electric Bass Guitar:

I play guitar and now coming to play bass. The instrument is terrific - quality is great, looks great, finish (FG) is great and it plays nicely. Loving it. Case is high-quality, too.

Need Schaller strap parts for the strap as they guitar part comes installed - fine for me since I can use the additional parts on one of my other instruments and swap the strap.
