I chose this to be my very first foot pedal. I wanted a multi-effects pedal that could do it all! If u have a good amp, and good guitar, then the distortion is great. I have a Spider III 15 and the distortion gets as good as the METAL channel! Of course it's not the best distortion, but it's great! And if you know how to record from it on your computer, then you will see that the distortion and effects are much better than out of the amp. It also sounds really cool through a stereo system or surround sound. I think that you will find the most useless feature on this pedal is the "DRUMS" it's not easy to play with a repeating drumline. And my personal favorite feature is the COMPRESSOR! It makes loud noises softer so you can hear the quiet noises. And for some reason, it gives more distortion when applied. If you like to hear the "pluck" when you pluck the strings, the compressor enables you to hear that. And then there is a tuner! It is a great tuner if you let the strings ring for about 2 seconds. But wait theres more! The noise gate doesn't effect the distotion! And last but not least, you get a pickup simulator. the SH gives you a warm, smooth tone. the HS gives you a cool, rough, poppy tone that will enable you to hear more of the "pluck" and if you like the "grinding" tone, then it gives you "grind" I can go on and on about this pedal, and it was under $100. But you have to hear it to believe it. It's very easy to use and there is one bad thing. You don't get the AC adaptor for it, and it costs an extra 10 or 15 bucks. But you dont really need it because it runs on 6 AA batteries! So I hope that this review helped you! I wish i could give you all the info on this, wonderful product!

First let me say that this unit is very clean, user friendly, although I have yet to use the User bank in which I can create my own effects. I do have one criticism: It would have been good to be able to look at the info on this pedal and be able to know whether it was a good fit for acoustic guitars or not. I have discovered in the short time that I have had it that although the effects seem to be very robust I had to turn the pre-amp on my 12-string almost down to off before I could utilize, without distortion, the chorus or whatever else I was trying to preview. My idea was to be able to create taylored effects for my use. The jury is still out as to whether I am going to keep this or not. I like the drum patterns which are very useful. As of now, I would only recommend this unit to those who play electric guitar and are looking for a resonably priced pedal with lots of nice bells and whistles.

This Digitech RP55 will keep you entertained for hours on end and I really like the drum machine. With the Digitech Jam Man Express Looper pedal routed in before the RP55 you can play all day long as a one man band. Awesome I say !! I had the Vox Stomp Lap 2 pedal but sold it because there was to much to do just to get a good sound from it. Spent more time fiddling with it then playing music. The RP55 blows the Vox Stomp lab away. I heard that the RP55 is not being made anymore due to a newer version so grab you one while they are still available. You wont regret it. They need to keep making a pedal with a good drum machine like this RP55. Its the best that I have found in a Multi effect pedal. Down Right Awesome.

      Surprised at the high ratings

So far the pedal is passing no signal whatever. With the predominance of high ratings, I'd better try again before returning it. Even so, given power, input and an amp, it should *just work*

To begin with - don't order this pedal from Guitar Center. They were out of the product, but still took my money, and then made me wait a month before they even shipped the thing. Now the pedal itself - WOW! You can customize effects however you please, and then line them up in the proper sequence you want for shows and such. Extremely convenient and affordable, this pedal is a fantastic value.

Great pedal for the money! Has several built-in specific amplifier effects from different decades and can create the wah, reverb, and delay that makes your music unique. Very pleased with this pedal!

      Definitely worth the price...

Comments about Digitech RP55 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:

I bought this processor as a gift for my sister, who has just begun to play guitar. This little device truly has an impressive amount of features crammed into one little box. I compared it's tone side by side with my Line 6 POD HD, and while it's lacking the organic tone of the POD, the fact that it's one-tenth of the price and has pretty darn good tone of its own make it a worthwhile investment. One word of advice -- don't use it as a stompbox. I formerly owned a Digitech RP150, and the footswitches quit working after about three months of only bedroom use. Sit it on a stool and change presets with your hands -- it'll last longer.

      Great for the price

      By Jonathan

Comments about Digitech RP55 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:

This thing has some great functions and sounds amazing. It's fairly small and it gives sweet effects. Only downside is the input and power jack got messed up after a few years, so if you press a pedal to hard or accidentally bump it either the power shuts off, or it gives a really loud "POP" sound. Probably from the plastic cracking due to some tough love, but its cheap enough to replace right away and lasts longer than expected. Excellent product, give it a try.

Comments about Digitech RP55 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:

I have several different RP's. This one is really handy for use in hotels, boats & RV's (the latter due to being battery powered). Has most of the same great models of the RP255 and 355 in something you can throw in your backpack or luggage. Pretty slick for it's size and price.

      Can't live without it!

      By Campbell

Comments about Digitech RP55 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:

Used for my home studio work, the DigiTech RP55 Guitar Multi Effects Pedal has become an extremely useful tool in my arsenal . It comes with forty (40) factory presets and forty (40) which you can set to your own specifications. The possibilities are just about endless for the effects you can program yourself and youۡll be able to create you own unique ۡ̏signatureۡݕ_ sounds with little technical knowledge. Youۡll have more distortions, flanging, sustains, wah-wahs, etc. then youۡll know what to do with. There is also a decent drum machine which is more useful as a ۡ̏click trackۡݕ_ or a metronome than an actual drum machine. Nonetheless, it still has a nice solid drum sound with several beat variations available which you can set to any tempo you wish. Another nice feature is you can plug headphones, as well as an audio-in jack for jamming along with you favorite tunes. The only drawbacks Iۡve found (and why itۡs not a first choice for stage work) is you can only cycle through the various effects rather than go from, say, effect number 3 to effect number 62. This can be a problem for stage when needing to switch from one effect to another in a timely manner. I would also recommend getting a power adapter, since it will suck the life from you batteries in no time, should you use yourۡs as much as I use mine. The DigiTech RP55 Guitar Multi Effects Pedal is constructed of a sturdy, solid plastic with a metal base and with proper care should last a good, long time. Iۡve become rather addicted to mine and would immediately purchase another should anything happen to mine.
