The Audix f6 Fusion Series bass frequency microphone is purpose-built for kick drums and other low-frequency instruments, including large toms, and bass cabinets. The Audix f6 drum mic is lightweight, compact, and easy to position. With a wide frequency response of 40Hz-16kHz and the ability to handle sound pressure levels of 140dB, the f6 is an excellent choice for miking instruments requiring extended low frequency reproduction.

Featuring the same depth and "no-EQ-necessary" performance as the Audix D6, the f6 boasts a little more midrange punch, also making it suitable for more aggressive styles of music, such as hard rock and punk. Another great benefit of Audix' purpose-built mics is the ease of placement-they sound great no matter where you place them (within reason), so a "walking" kick drum, or active performers bumping the mic is rarely a problem.

The Audix f6 has a hypercardioid pickup pattern for isolation and feedback control, and an LM (Low Mass) Type A diaphragm for natural, accurate sound reproduction. It employs a transformerless design for transparent reproduction, while its low-impedance, balanced output provides interference-free performance-even with long cable runs. It's roadworthy construction includes a precision-cast zinc alloy body, black coat finish, laser-etched model and serial number, steel mesh grill, gold XLR connector and a tension-fit heavy duty nylon mic clip.

User tips:
The f6 is designed with low output in order to compensate for instruments having very high sound pressure levels. For kick drums, start with the mic inside the middle of the drum positioned slightly off-center, pointed towards the beater. For more attack, and less bass boom, move the mic closer to the beater. For less attack and more bass, move the mic further away from the beater. For kick drums without a hole in front head, place the f6 a few inches from the head for a large dynamic sound. For toms, position the mic 2 inches from the head and point towards the center of the drum. For bass cabinets, position the mic 90 to the grille cloth and 1 - 2 inches inside the edge of the speaker.

Comments about Audix F6 Kick Drum & Bass Frequencies Microphone:

I bought this primarily to use as a cajon mic; to use mounted inside of the drum. I didn't want to invest a ton of money in a specialty mic and this one was on sale for a good price. So far it has done a great job at picking up the bass end but you would probably want to add a second mic for the higher frequencies (which is no surprise). It seems well built and sturdy, a good size for mounting with a clamp inside of the drum. The sound is clean and I haven't had the same feedback problems that I sometimes have with other mics on the cajon in live performances. I haven't used it a lot yet but my initial impressions are good and I think it will do what I need it to do.

    best kick for the money

    By Motojam60

Comments about Audix F6 Kick Drum & Bass Frequencies Microphone:

I've been an Audix fan for many years. Vocals and instuments sound good with little EQ work to get there. The D6 has been one of my main go to's for live sound. I had started adding a Shure SM91 with the D6 to give a little more snap to the kick. Someone pointed the f6 out to me after hearing the sound I was getting. After making the purchase I was looking forward to the true test of how well it worked with my system. My next show the drummer shows up with a kick that had a solid front head. Oh well. no killer kick sound tonght I thought. I placed mics on everything and ask the drummer for some kick, expecting to perform a salvage job. First hit, straight up, it punched the system. I was amazed. I've used most all of the different big name and middle name kick mics thru the years. Arena systems down to the club event. This mic has the sound I want at a fraction of the cost. It gives the tight bottom you need to rock the subs as well as the upper snap that gives it clear definition. It is by for the best kick mic for the money I've used, even better than many of the big dollar ones. Another plus for me is that it is made in the USA rather than farmed out to save cost of manufacturing. Thanks Audix

Comments about Audix F6 Kick Drum & Bass Frequencies Microphone:

I bought two of these mics for my kick drums. I had a pair of CAD kbm 412 mics and I wanted to up grade. I like the sound of these mics they have a good click sound when they are next to the batter head, and a good boom when they are on stands out front. It's all about what you like and I like these time will tell

Comments about Audix F6 Kick Drum & Bass Frequencies Microphone:

ok i got this to record my drum set for my bands album but it didnt have the power for low bass sounds. i even cranked the bass on the mixer and then the recording software we use and it still sounded like it wasnt low enough. like i guess if you want to record jazz maby it would be good but deffinetly not for metal.
