The ADAM A3X 2-way studio monitor is ADAM Audio's smallest monitor to date, making it perfectly suited for audio environments where space is limited but sound must not be. The A3X delivers acclaimed ADAM sound quality from a small footprint by using an X-ART tweeter for the higher frequencies guaranteeing crystal-clear music reproduction.

The A3X monitor's 4.5" basket driver handles the lower registers. The diaphragm is made from carbon fiber, a material that is very light but very stiff and therefore capable of delivering coloring-free sound. Two built-in 25W amplifiers power each of the drivers directly.

A very handy and exclusive technology found in the 2 smaller AX monitors is the Stereolink. This is accomplished by a pair of additional RCA connections that allow for a bypass of the second stereo channel to the other speaker.

This new technology connects 2 ADAM A3X speakers allowing you to control the system's stereo volume from either speaker's gain control. The A3X is a natural for desktop applications where overall system volume needs to be adjusted easily.

Controls and Connectors
The front of the ADAM A3X sports dual ports for surprisingly low frequency response down to 60Hz. The front panel is armed with power and gain controls. The rear panel includes a tweeter gain control as well as balanced (XLR) jacks and unbalanced (RCA) jacks, giving the ADAM A3X monitor greater connection flexibility.

Comments about Adam Audio A3X Powered Studio Monitor:

Of all the monitors available for testing with keyboards, the A3X monitors had the best quality in lows, mid, and highs. They blew away the rest. I purchased four of them and only wish I could have gotten four of the A8X to blow the walls down. Love them, Love them, Love them.

    Little body, big sound!

    By javier garcia

Comments about Adam Audio A3X Powered Studio Monitor:

I recommend them if you dont have a sub. They bump! I do think they are oberpriced!
They feature a great selection of inputs. And dats cool!
I give these monitors a step down only because i think they lack clarity. These little things do have power, and they are accurate, but compared to my alesis MKs they lack abit of a higher end crisp. I read in the manual that I must break them in and allow for room acclimation, so well see. I've been their daddy for only three weeks...
I wish they were a bit cleaner on the highs.

Changes the game for small monitors

    By Rodney Spaulding

    from Austin, Texas

Comments about Adam Audio A3X Powered Studio Monitor:

I think an 8 for an overall is very good. The professional engineer will be surpised at the depth and clarity of such a compact speaker and the beginner will not know the difference but will get started on the right path with a great sounding pair of speakers.
Features: I rate a 7 simply because there is a lack of frequency room attenuation on these monitors.Surprising for higher end monitors. The FOCAL CMS 3 (the only true competition for this monitor) has the ability to cut/boost bass or high end to adjust for the room. However, these are front ported and meant to be very near field which eliminates a great deal of the room. XLR Balanced out and RCA unbalanced. There is a 'stereo link' mode which allows you to use one monitor as master volume to assure even volume distribution... however it can only be used with the RCA unbalanced ins. 4" driver, standard ADAM ribbon tweeter found on all other models.
I rate these a 8 for quality. Build is solid. Sound is very surprising for the size of speaker. Low end is very present and clear. For a professional monitor you will be pleased at the clarity of your audio. Monitors are a funny thing, countless reviewers of any monitor, at any price range claim theirs is the 'best' in some way. 90% of all monitor reviews are done by musicians with little experience listening to a wide range of monitors, listening in an untreated bedroom environment without a critical ear or critical demands placed on their project (meaning no paying client to please). I currently have these ADAMS next to JBL LSR6328p which I have used for the past 4 years as well as Dynaudio BM5a in a balanced room. I can say that the ADAM quality is a great compliment to the other speakers and at lower volumes completely holds it own. These are best for smaller rooms.
Solid investment. Great price for a pair of genuinely usuable monitors is a great bargain

    Superbly accurate small footprint monitors...

    By David Shamban

    from Nashville TN

Comments about Adam Audio A3X Powered Studio Monitor:

I have very little desk space in my home setup and I do quite a bit of mission critical music and video audio mixes. I also do a lot of listening to music at my setup while I work. Previously I had a BlueSky Media desk monitoring system which was fantastic. I needed a pair of monitors that would take up very little room, provide a nice listening experience with character and of course offer flat response for mixing music and video. I demoed several monitors in this price range and to my ears these were without compare. They seem to offer an incredibly flat, precise clear response all the way through... no gap in the range where often monitors can be a little murky. The lower end is round and punchy, it's not going to shake up your internal organs... but it's certainly present and very workable for mixing. I'm a bass junkie and I'm probably going to add a sub at some point, but these sound so good as they are it's not on my top priorities. If I had to describe the sound of these I would easily say pristine and punchy. The subtle dynamics and details really shine through on these. I was also impressed with the throw of the speaker, my old monitors had a very specific sweet spot... and while these definitely have a sweet spot they seem to project the sound for a very enjoyable listening experience away from the desk as well. The build quality seems very solid, I didn't get the sense that anything inside or out would every become loosened over time. Seeing as these are small nearfield desk monitors, I am a little concerned about the lack of grill, but I assume it was never intended as these monitors seem engineered to put the sound out the way they do. A grill might kill the accuracy. But it is something to be mindful of, if you like to set your coffee down on the desk or anything else near them. As far as the look, well... I could imagine Darth Vader making some beats on the deathstar with these. I've just had these a day now, so I may update this review. But I am feeling great about this purchase. Picking monitors is extremely difficult. When I heard these it was a no brainer.

A truly superb little speaker, amazing sound from a small footprint!

    By Geoff

    from Portland, Oregon

Comments about Adam Audio A3X Powered Studio Monitor:

Only giving this four out of five stars because I'd reserve five for something really high-end (and more expensive). I bought these ADAM at the Guitar Center in Clackamas, OR, and I'm extremely happy with them. The project a clear, uncolored detail that is still very listenable and warm. Pretty solid bass at most volumes. If you're doing bass production, you can add the sub later, (although I don't really feel like I need it). Playing some remastered Beatles songs through these was mind-blowing! Short version: take in your penny jar, sell your comics, whatever you have to do, and buy these. You will probably never need another pair of desktop monitors, so the investment is definitely worth it.

    Simply Outstanding!!!

    By Robert

Comments about Adam Audio A3X Powered Studio Monitor:

The title of this review sums it up well! I'll get to the point...just buy these and forget about upgrading! (unless it's to another ADAM) In my 30 years of recording and production, I have never been so taken by any product. These are amazingly accurate and non-fatiguing monitors. They are revealing, but are not "thin" sounding in any way, the midrange is to die for! Horns, vocals, piano, cello, violin, it's like a whole different world. Currently I am using these in a HD multi-track set-up with video prod/editing with wonderful results. Light airy high's, gorgeous midrange, and deep tight bass. YES, I said DEEP and TIGHT! Hard to believe it's using a 4.5" driver. You will be amazed! My highest recommendation.

Das ist gut (This is good)

Comments about Adam Audio A3X Powered Studio Monitor:

Slowly but surely I have been upgrading my studio. I was looking for a solution that would give me highly detailed mid-range response without blowing me away with excessive bass or volume. These little monitors fit the bill very nicely. To me hearing bass guitars and kicks is all about the mid range. If you are seeking mixes that translate well from headphones to car stereos these are perfect. So much detail and clarity. A joy to listen to and with the stereolink volume control very easy to setup.

Comments about Adam Audio A3X Powered Studio Monitor:

I've never heard such amazing sound delivered from monitors of this size. I don't own a pair of the A3X, But leaving my studio ADAM A7 + NS-10 and listening to a pair a mate bought for traveling... I was amazed. Im heading down now to Guitar center to upgrade my A7's to A7X because of the A3X's! Highly recommended.

It gives you the crispiest of tops and mids and even reaches down to the lows without hassle.
