I put this on a 1964 Walberg and Auge snare. Really gives it a great sound. A lot of punch but with a classic 60's sound and look

Comments about Remo Vintage Ambassador Coated Batter Drumhead:

I put these on a small jazz kit to give the smaller shells some character and that worked out great. Even though the vintage As are thought to be on the bright side, I got the coated ones and they have plenty of tasteful warmth even on a small set.

THE head for any Ludwig metal snare

          By William Underwood

Comments about Remo Vintage Ambassador Coated Batter Drumhead:

This head just feels and sounds right on my 6.5x14" Supraphonic. Convinced my friend to put one on his Black Beauty, same thing. Absolutely phenominal.

          Complete set

          By Steve

          from Haltom City, Texas

Comments about Remo Vintage Ambassador Coated Batter Drumhead:

I have an an older Tama Granstar (Birch) with re-cut shell depths and bearing edges. I put an entire set of these on the batter side: 10,12,14,16,18 and Ambassador coated for resos. I was looking for tunability and warmth + attack without that Pinstripe feel or sound. Also, I just tried Evans EC's and was not impressed. I had been using Evans for the past 8 years and will never go back. I ordered vintage Emperors and my order got messed up. I decided to try the V/A's and will never go back to anything else!! These Vintage Ambassadors are just amazing. Out of the box they seem like a disappointment. There is air between the two ply's and my first inclination was they were going to be dead. These tuned up so incredibly nice and just had a sweet spot. They FEEL better than any head I've played. They have a bit of a soft response but nothing is lost. These defy physics. The real nice thing is, they will resonate the same as a 10mil reso head with two plys. Its like a lighter gauge emperor but more unique feel and sound with the depletion between ply's. Don't worry, they have plenty of resonance but a bit more focused than a standard Ambassador...just sweeeeeter!!! I might be cautious on an 8" shell if you like an open sound. My 10" was a little more focused then the rest but not too much. I used just a little bit of added control for my 18" and nothing on any of the rest of the toms. These heads have a built in sweet spot for every size and additional tone control is just not needed. AWESOME, you will NOT be disappointed. i would LOVE to hear these on a maple kit!

          great tone

          By Mark

          from Dallas, TX

Comments about Remo Vintage Ambassador Coated Batter Drumhead:

This is a great head for a smaller snare, to give it a "bigger" sound. The double-ply construction will dampen ring and overtones, and give the tone more depth, which creates the illusion of a larger drum size. I use this head on a 12 inch Yamaha Musashi snare, and it sounds killer! I tried this head on a 10 inch Pearl snare, and it gave that drum a bigger sound, but it dampened the rimshot too much (which doesn't seem to be an issue on the 12 inch snare). Overall, a great snare head with a distinctive sound. Try it, you may love it like I do.

          i'm impressed

Comments about Remo Vintage Ambassador Coated Batter Drumhead:

i wasn't around when these were the norm, but i was down at GC about to load up on replacement/spare Ambassadors for my church, and a local show here in vegas bought em out the day before! so i picked one of these up cause i needed a new head, and i was shocked at how open and warm it sounded. not very different from the modern Ambassadors, mostly just warmer, but it's fershure nice i might just stick with these for awhile.

Really nice sound, but not too durable

          By remo4life

Comments about Remo Vintage Ambassador Coated Batter Drumhead:

This head gives my Pork pie little squealer a really nice crack and a bright sound. Only thing is it isn't too durable. Right when I started playing I could already see marks on it and later on the white film on top had started to fade away. Other than that, its a great sounding head!

This is what drum heads should sound like!

          By Matthew

          from Chattanooga, TN

Comments about Remo Vintage Ambassador Coated Batter Drumhead:

I'm thrilled Remo reissued these heads. They are far mor "tuneable" than the one ply 10mm heads. I just bought a Tama Starclassic 12ply maple snare, and after using the Vintage A head on it, I decided to try them on my toms. I'm so glad I did. Just enough ring, which you can play with if you really know how to tune a drum. A+ to Remo.
