These are now standard equipment on my kit for tuning purposes - snare and all toms. I have a 2nd set also just in case I accidentally crimp one as will always happen.
I have always used these anti-ring rings on my snare, and love it there. I had just put on new Remo Pinstripes / Ambassadors (batter/reso) on the set, but still wanted to reduce the ring further but not lose the sound or punch. I play an older 1993 Pearl BLX "All Birch Shell" set, and they tend to be a bit "boisterous" - no matter how I tune them high top / low bottom, high top / high bottom, and anywhere in between I still couldn't get rid of the ring I wanted gone. When I put the whole set on the toms (10, 12, 13, 14, 16) the change was PERFECT. I'll have to tune them a bit higher now, but can do so without any concern for the ring now - these kill that off but leave the punch sound I'm looking for.
Would be a 10, but I had to trim off almost all of the rings 1-2cm to make them fit my set. Only the 10" tom fit perfectly to start. Maybe my rims are considered a bit short compared to norm, but a little more leeway would be better. Once I carefully trimmed, they seat fine now and the quality is good.
Cheap efficient way to reduce the ring. I do not like the gel option.

I've heard great things about this product so I thought I'd give it a try. I've got a very nice Ludwig Supraphonic that sounds great but has a few over-tones that I've had to get rid of with MoonGel. My jaw dropped (in a bad way) when I put the Remo ring on my snare. It took care of the over-tones, but it also muted my rimshots big time. NOT GOOD! At least with Moongel you can adjust the amount of dampening by where you place the Moongel on your snare head. Dampening rings, at least the Remo version, is not adjustable and simply killed the sound of my Ludwig! Back to using half of a Moongel about 1" from the hoop.

Comments about RemO's Tone Control Rings:

They do what they need to do, take the ring out, shorten the tone. Usually always have 'em with me and use them PRN. These and some mooongel can make the life of a drummer a lot easier at times, depending on the venue.

        REMO RemO Tone Control Rings

        By RICHARD

        from South Windsor, CT

Comments about RemO's Tone Control Rings:

RemO Tone Control Rings are just what is needed to adjust tone on your drum heads. I know by reading other reviews that some drummers use them to control ring, but I don't use them for ring. Tuning should control ringing, unless the drum or head are not able to be tuned right. I have two ten inch toms in my drum configuration, so I put one on the rototom to tone it down a bit rather than tuning the head to a different pitch. I have used all sizes of these rings for years and found them to be more helpful than tape or moongel.

I threw the 1" ring on a 14" Tama Silverstar snare that had some really annoying overtones. The overtones disappeared immediately, leaving a fantastic sounding *CRACK*. No fit issues, no rattle.

            Nice Option for dampening

Comments about RemO's Tone Control Rings:

These work well. They are considerably narrower than Evans version, but a tad thicker. I actually prefer these. Marginally, over Evans. I ONLY use them on toms.
MF had them on back order for a long time.
No features realy to speak of. They're round?
Mylar plastic like a white uncoated drumhead.
Kinda spendy for what they are.

            They don't fit...

            By Paul Hupman

            from Texas

Comments about RemO's Tone Control Rings:

Purchased at the same time as an Aquarian set for my toms. The Aquarians had no fit issues for the same size drums, but the Remos didn't fit. They will need to be trimmed to fit...
They do their job, but only after being trimmed.
            Good materials, but over-sized.
To avoid problems, buy another brand...

Great for Snare, Just Add Tape to Tom Rings

            By Anonymous

            from Undisclosed

Comments about RemO's Tone Control Rings:

This is stellar on the snare, and it makes it sound wonderful. These vibrate on the toms a little bit, though. Just take some clear scotch tape and put about 4 (0r more) pieces on the ring and batter head to hold the rings down and prevent them from ringing. That's what I did and it makes the toms sound great, too.

I purchased these and the tom pack, but was not sasifsfied with the tom pac. But I have the hardest time trying to get rid of the ring of my snare. These got rid of it and still kept a great sound. Buy these not the tom rings
