Overview

The Powersonic bass drumheads give the drummer controlled mid-range and low end for the most powerful bass drum sound that's It, right out of the box.

The Powersonic bass drumheads are constructed of 2-ply 7-mil Mylar with two specifically placed internal subsonic dampening rings with External Snap-on Dampening System (ESDS) technology. The two mounted 3/4" internal dampening rings enhance low end without affixing trays or hard-backed dampening materials to the drumhead.

The unique patent pending ESDS system employs snaps mounted directly to the drumhead to eliminate the possibility of vibration. This allows you to easily customize your muffling, feel, and sustain for different playing situations by "snapping" the strategically placed weighted pillow to the drumhead. Also included is the Falam Slam for added attack and durability.

Just bought this costly drum head, and I do not hear what everyone else does. I play double bass Pearl export, one bass has the EMAD with small dampening ring, and an ebony PS-3 as the resonant. The other the Powersonic, overall, the EMAD produces a better tone, and punch. The Powersonic, just has attack. I am not a big Evans fan, but here Evans has the better bass drum head.

Comments about Remo Powersonic Clear Bass Drumhead:

I just bought this head yesterday from my local Guitar Center and I gotta say this head is SWEET! The snap on pad is one of the coolest features I have ever seen on a bass drum head and it works very well to! If your willing to spend $40-$45 (depending on taxes) you will not we disappointed at all. I highly recommend this head..!

From the desk of an EMAD lover

By K No

from Long Island

Comments about Remo Powersonic Clear Bass Drumhead:

I've been using the EMAD for years now, reading mixed reviews on the powersonic, decided I had to try it for myself and I'm so glad I did, I'm able to get much more tone out of the powersonic than I was with the EMAD. The only test now is how long it will keep that tone. Time will tell. For those EMADers on the fence, definitely give it a try.

Absolutely Awesome

By Dan

from Ohio

Comments about Remo Powersonic Clear Bass Drumhead:

This head is it. Played the Evans Emad for several years and this head is so much better. Offers that full sound you want out of the bass drum where you can actually feel and hear that low end bass sound that all drummers love, but at the same gives you the ability to have that controlled sound at the same time. Can't say enough about this head. I love Evans, but Remo just won the battle as far as bass drum heads are concerned. I advise any drummer, to go with this head. Most versatile head I have ever played. You can get just about any sound you want out of this head. Very easily tuned as well. Great job Remo. I have this head on my Yamaha absolute maple kit and my pacifc cx kit. Sounds just as good on either.

Comments about Remo Powersonic Clear Bass Drumhead:

This is a awesome head. When I get my new set I will be shure to buy one. When you got a 24 inch bass drum u need a good head. And it also comes with a falam slam pad. Also the ESDS tec. is awesome. This head is awesome. I would buy one for my set now but im getting a new one and the bass drums are diffrent size but when I get my new set ill most likley buy one.

Too "fluffy\

By Anwodrummer

from Nashua, NH

Comments about Remo Powersonic Clear Bass Drumhead:

I bought this head because I heard it was suppose to be the new EMAD except internal muffling and no sitff plastic.I found this head to be too fluffy sounding with and without the clip on pad and didn't have enough pounch to it when tuned to very resonant or tuned low to have a big impact.Im a remo guy but Ill take the EMAD over this anyday.

Nice one Remo!

By Wes

from Argonne, WI

Comments about Remo Powersonic Clear Bass Drumhead:

Even when tuned pretty loose, there's still a nice tone. Doesn't sound 'papery' or anything. I can play my 22" with no pillow (only a bath towel folded in half... not touching either head) and a stock resonant head with no mic hole and STILL have a controlled yet big sound.

Best Bass Drum Head out there!

By Tommy "Bigcat" Iannotti

from Stratford,Connecticut

Comments about Remo Powersonic Clear Bass Drumhead:

I've played on a quite a few heads before I came across this one. I love the removable weighted pillow. It gives a great attack for the styles of music I play. Some people like to stuff a pillow inside the drum but I prefer to leave my bass shell completely open to get the full resonance of the drum. Personally,I feel that this is by far the best bass head out there for rock/metal. Check it out! -Tommy "Bigcat" Iannotti

Great Head...Fairly Short Lifespan

By Dan M

from Leavenworth, KS

Comments about Remo Powersonic Clear Bass Drumhead:

I remember the first time I read about the state-of-the-art ESDS system. It seemed as if Remo had personally designed a custom head to my personal specifications; two-ply over single, internal dampening rings, a quick pillow additive to suppress overtones vs. allowing the head to vibrate freely, and the addition of the falam patch for added attack and durability in your choice of clear or coated. I chose the coated version for added warmth, focus, and durability & as I expected, I tuned the head to my liking, snapped on the ESDS system, and added the falam patch to the most gorgeous bass drum sound I've ever heard. Strong and punchy mids & lows, with few overtones, and a great feel. I have yet to test the clear powersonic, but I'm faithful that it will have the same appeal as it's counterpart. The only issue that I had is that after approximately 1-2 weeks, the middle snap of the pillow had a nasty habit of detaching itself (after a couple blows from the kick pedal) from the snap on the head. I'm not sure if this was because I tuned the head lower than normal standards or because I lean towards more complex beats that result in using the head more frequently, but having your bass drum alter its specific sound in the midst of a song is quite irritating. Other than that issue, the Powersonic has been my choice for bass batter head; pair the Powersonic with my choice of the Smooth White Powerstroke 3 on the resonant side & your bass will sound superb. Now it's your choice if you are looking for the warmth & focus of coated vs. the clear version. I'd greatly appreciate it if anyone is willing to share their personal "TESTED" preference between the clear & coated Powersonic head. My e-mail is DMcCrudden29@gmail.com.

BEST HEAD EVER!!!

By AlessandroPaiste

from Miami, Fl

Comments about Remo Powersonic Clear Bass Drumhead:

I just got this head to try out some remo heads because ive always used evans, and i will probably use the powersonics for my bass heads from now on. They look awesome and sound even better, and you can tune them real tight and still have an awesome punch, they will work amazingly with any quality shells. They come with a falam slam so you can also have that nice little click sound if you use a wooden beater. And the best part of this is that I actually have nothing stuffed in my bass drums to muffle them thats how great these heads are, no more pillows or anything in your kicks. Do not be hesitant to buy this head it will do its job much better than you expect.

Terrible design

By Justin

from Detroit, MI

Comments about Remo Powersonic Clear Bass Drumhead:

I've always used the Emad bass drum head but after a few weeks the plastic rings on those always come unglued and crack off no longer holding the muffling onto the head. When this new Remo design first came out it seemed like a fantastic one compared to the emad, so I had to try it out. I got home with my new powersonic head, pulled it out of the box and the foam rings were already coming unglued. I went back to GC and returned it for another which seemed to be in excellent condition. I got home, put it on, tuned it up and started jamming. After about 20 minutes of playing the foam rings on the inside of the 2nd head started coming unglued again. I then had to take it off, reglue it, put it back on and tune it up again. What a hassel! So i played with it glued on for quite some time and after adjusting the snap on dampening system many times it eventually started to rip the snap out of the head. I'm about to try out the Aquarian superkick. I've heard only great things about it so far and I have recorded a drummer with this head and it sounded fantastic.

Comments about Remo Powersonic Clear Bass Drumhead:

this bass head is by far one of the most amazing sounding head ive used. it has great durability and amazing tone once u get it tuned right. the only flaw that it has is that after a while, the buttons that attach to the head, are falling off the felt. i dont know if i can by another attachment piece seperate but i sure as hell hope so. overall amazing and worth your money

Perfect

By Israel

from Miami, Fl

Comments about Remo Powersonic Clear Bass Drumhead:

Finally my stock bass drum head broke :D Today was the day to choose between Evans EMAD 2 or Remo Powersonic Clear Bass Drum Head. At my church, the main temple's drumset has the Remo Powersonic Clear Bass drum head and then the drums in the chapel (Smaller size temple) has the Evans EMAD 2. They both sound great but just to make sure I asked the main drummer of the Adult service. He's a Sabian Cymbal Artist, so I take all his advice and use them. He said go with the Remo Powersonic because the foam and sound of the Emads are starting to loose its quality. So I went to my local Guitar Center and purchased the Remo Powersonic Clear Bass Drum Head. Went home, put the head on, 1 minute tuning just to hear how it sounds. When I sat down and hit that 1st note all I can say was wow, where have you been all my life ! This bass drum head will not take away 5 pounds from your wallet or make you doubt of not going with the EMAD's. This head will simply give you that low BOOM sound you've always wanted. God bless !

Amazing bass drum head!

By Big Jerm

from California

Comments about Remo Powersonic Clear Bass Drumhead:

This thing is amazing. Remo did a great job with this one. I feel it solves the problem of having to put a pillow or a blanket in your bass drum. As long as you know how to tune. Tune the head a little loose and you'll get a nice thud or tighten it up and you'll get a really nice attack and nice pop. Well worth the money. BUT IT NOW!!

      Better than evans!!

      By Georgios

      from Tarpon Springs, FL

Comments about Remo Powersonic Clear Bass Drumhead:

i have been playing evans heads for about two years now, and when i heard about this head and all the positive feedback, i decided to give it a try. when i put it on my bass drum, i realized that it was much easier to tune than any of the evans heads i have used. i removed all of my interior muffling and this head really llowed my bass drum SHELL to resonate more, giving it a cleaner tone. this head is great! better than the emad, will last longer also.
