Overview

Remo's popular Pinstripe drumheads are made from 2 plies and internally muffled to dampen both the high overtones and overall resonance. The result is a very focused, low pitched sound with moderate attack and response characteristics-ideal for creating a deeper, fatter, controlled drum sound in a variety of studio and live drumming situations. The coated surface also makes the pinstripe coated drumhead from Remo better suited for brush work.

Back when I first started druming 1995. I was told that Remo Pinstripes were the way to go. I really loved them. However, I wanted to see what everyone else had to offer. I tried out 6 differnt types of Evan heads and a few of Aquarian heads. I have found that Aquarian heads tend to kill ALL the overtone in the drums and actually kill some of the good tones. Its like overkill for drumheads. I liked my Evans, the EC2's were my favorite. But then I decided to come back to the pinstripes just to see what I started out on. WOW!!! Why did I ever even consider other drumheads? They sound great, last forever and look sweet. What more can you ask for? I use these on my 14" snare and my toms (10, 12, 14, 16) From my experience with overtone, I have found the 14" tom does not need a moongel (not sure why but it hardly had any overtone), the 10" and 12" need one and the 16" actually needed two. Which worked fine for me seeing as they come in packs of 4. Trust me, if you know how to tune (if not use a drumdial) and set these puppies up with moongels just as I did. You will never need to shop any further. Go Remo Pinstripes for life!!! I sure know I will.

A guy at my local guitar center gave me this as a snare head with the pack of clear pinstripes I bought for my toms. I put this on my steel snare and I just sounded awful. Way to wet for my style. Just really ringy and clunky but it probably sounds better on toms.

I fell in love with this head as soon as I first hit it. It has all the warmth and depth of a coated head but the ring helps with some of the higher overtones which leaves a wide drum

I put these on because I need to use brushes on my toms.
        Installed a 10 & 13 one my breakbeats kit.
Gave a thick dark tone that open or partly muted is suitable for jazz fusion.
A little moongel extra and you have a solid rock tone.
Am extremely pleased and the price was very good also

Comments about Remo Pinstripe Coated Drumhead:

I've tried Evans, I've tried strategically taping heads, and I've tried a number of different Remo heads, but for my Toms, I love the Remo Pinstripe COATED. Yes, Coated makes a difference. Along with the drums looking like they just stepped out of a time machine from the 60s, the coated head gives a much better response to your stick. I really don't understand how there are other drumhead companies out there, if Remo doesn't have a head to fit the sound you want out of your drums, I don't think anybody else can. Read the descriptions, see what your favorite drummers use...there's a reason Remo is written on practically every drum you ever come across...they work.

Comments about Remo Pinstripe Coated Drumhead:

Firstly: when you shop bass drum heads, don't look under "bass drum heads." You will save a good amount of money by looking at "drum heads." Reason being, The two lists are not the same. I own an 18" bass drum, and of course, most of the time, they don't get the boom you're looking for. After some research i decided to try using a batter head on resonnance side. I followed the many good reviews on this Remo pinstripe. My batter head is also a Remo pinstripe. After replacing my head with this new one, the sound is much darker and deeper. I decided to use the coated head for easthetic reasons. Just what i was looking for. A good price with good results!

                  Snare head

                  from Garland Tx

Comments about Remo Pinstripe Coated Drumhead:

Yes this is originally for toms, but this sounds great as a snare head also! Back when I didn't really know anything about heads (10 months ago), I went to my local GC, and saw these on sale. I got the 14 in, since that's the size of my snare. This makes an excellent snare head! It isn't bad for a head which originally belongs on a tom. Been beating on these things since July of 2012, and they still haven't broke! This head excels in sound and durability, and I would recommend anyone buying this! They sound beautiful as toms too, so either way, this is the best bang for your buck!

I put this head on a lowly(?) Ludwig Accent snare. It tuned up nicely, and when I listened to a live recording I was amazed! Solid pop, full tone, and not too much ring.

                    Pretty Good Snare Head

                    By Vic Dunston

                    from Georgia

Comments about Remo Pinstripe Coated Drumhead:

I used this drumhead on a 6-1/2 x 14 Ludwig snare and got very good results. The drum was a lowly (but decent) Accent series, and the coated Pinstripe really made it sing with a fat, punchy sound. I'm a fairly heavy player, and it held up nicely. I recently aquired a Dixon Artisan Black Nickel snare, and I plan to put one of these on it, hopefully paired with a Black Suede snare side.
