I find most people use this head for their snares, but use them on my hi tom and floor tom and let me tell you it has the perfect depth that you wont find with any other heads without using "mufflers".I definitley recomend this to any hard hitter whos looking for low tones, instead of the muffled boxy sound!...suerte!

I have two very major issues with this head. The reverse dot area deadens rebound significantly. Play outside the dot and play inside the dot area and you will see what I mean. Also, this head for reasons I cant solve gives my snare a nasty decay that is too long on the resonant side. I put my standard emperor snare head back on and both issues went away.

Comments about Remo Emperor X Coated Batter:

i use this on my snare and it's the best. it delivers warm undertones with fast attack and decay. is perfect for rock but also can be subtle enough for jazz. best when tuned tight on a deep snare.

Great heads, hard to tune

By Andy

from kinnelon, NJ

Comments about Remo Emperor X Coated Batter:

I use this head on three of my snares. It is great if you are a hard hitter, they are virtually indestructible. The only problem is that you really need to tune them a lot tighter than 1 ply heads in order to get a good sound out of them.

amazing but not for me

By ZackAttacK

from taylor,MI

Comments about Remo Emperor X Coated Batter:

i bought this snare head about four months ago its held up very well. im a hard rock drummer and this head definately suits me. it gives a huge punch especially when you hit the dot in the center. another pro about this head is the rim shots there explosive! but what changed my mind was the ghost notes/buzz rolls whatever you want to call them. you cant get much of a bounce off this head especially in the middle so my last resort was tuning it all the way up wich didnt help.

Comments about Remo Emperor X Coated Batter:

My snare drum was giving me problems with overtones, so when I saw this product I bought it. This is my favorite Remo drum head I have tried about 6 other heads and this beats them all!

Crack not Choke.....!

By Mescalito

from Monrovia,ca

Comments about Remo Emperor X Coated Batter:

Got the 12" Emperor X for my solid maple Craviotto/DW snare. I can't believe how sweet it makes my little "B" of a snare sound like a big dog! Added volume and nice warm overtones, and when I crank that snare for funk or whatever it's like a good Tijuana "pro", she don't choke, ya know its a great "head". Buy this!

decent

By chris glass

from ganado,tx

Comments about Remo Emperor X Coated Batter:

this drum head is extremely durable. i have had it for about a year now and it is just now starting to show wear. With that being said, it is hard to tune and doesnt have much bounce until you tune it up really high.

Great head; don't be fooled by the uneducated reviews

By Joshua Strong

from Taylorsville, UT

Comments about Remo Emperor X Coated Batter:

Unfortunately, the bad comments about this head do not depict flaws with the head itself, but a classic case of people not doing their research before they make a purchase. Bear in mind, this is NOT the head for a big crack. If you want that, go with the Coated Controlled sound. This head is best for a FAT sound, and by God does it achieve that sound well. Being such a thick head, it produces a PHENOMENAL punch and projects beautifully. Tune this sucker down low, and you'll never go back. Also, the durability is unrivaled. This has been reiterated many times, and there's only one reason for that; it's true. You won't be changing this head out for a long time.

Best Sounding Head For My Snare!

By Kerry Woodson

from Louisville, Kentucky

Comments about Remo Emperor X Coated Batter:

I have tried several heads for my Ludwig Black Beauty Snare. The Remo Emperor X Coated Batter head is the best one for it. Tuned tight, it gets the perfect feel and sound I was looking for. It has no overbearing overtones either, that's always a plus for me!
