I'm on my second ebony pinstripe head and they are just amazing. My heads normally last a year because I put a falam patch on them and I also set it up with metal washers so that the beaters hit them. It's the best way to get a really good sound from your bass drum without having to use triggers. I recommend the EPS heads to anyone who needs a good solid head that will last long and give great sound.

I've used Ebony Pinstripes on my toms for years, and love 'em. I recently decided to try one out as my new bass head. I had the original DW/Remo heads on my kick before this swap. I've switched them out and replaced them a few times, had 'em for ever, and they still sounded better than this new Ebony Pinstripe head. I bought this head thinking that it would do what my tom heads did for them -- give a lower, more focused, fast decaying overall sound. With these I got good low attack that did decay rapidly, but I also got an annoying, high-pitched ringing that didn't seem to decay at all. I tried every trick in my bag and picked up a few from friends, but no one I know could get this head to sound good. I'm a Remo guy (always have been, probably always will be) but this head was a disappointment. I have since settled on a Powerstroke 3 Clear and love it! If you want punchy lows, short sustain, and HUGE sound, then the Powerstroke 3 is my recommendation.

Comments about Remo Ebony Series Pinstripe Bass Drumhead:

My kit has 2 bass drums, so I bought 2 of them. After a few practices and gigs, one of the heads broke the outer layer. So I went down to a single bass with a double pedal. Whats strange is the other head has been holding up very well, for now. Im still leery of it, but for now its doing good. Sounds good by itself, sounds amazing when miced. If it holds up, I might continue to buy it again.

Comments about Remo Ebony Series Pinstripe Bass Drumhead:

I've always been a Remo fan. I have an 8 piece drum kit that has 2 bass drums, so I bought 1 for each drum. Also bought the matching tom heads. Not sure why, but after 1 month, and about 5 shows, my main bass head broke one of the layers causing my pedal to get stuck. It didn't punch a hole all the way through it, just 1 of the layers. Luckily I had the 2 bass drums so I was able to swap things around and finish the show. I think I'm going back to the Aquarian Super Kick II. Had one of those for 10 years on the same kit and never failed me. As for the toms, so far, so good. Hopefully the 2nd one can hold out for the time being...

      Terrible

      By Tim Ferguson

Comments about Remo Ebony Series Pinstripe Bass Drumhead:

I bought this head and paired it with a stock Tama reso head and already knew I did not like this head at all. I had to tune it way down to almost no tension to get a reasonable sound plus I had to stuff my bass drum with tons of pillows and junk. Any sustain I could get had a lot of bad overtones. If you want a slappy bass drum sound with no sustain and a lot of muffling, then get this head. If you want a low fundamental, good sustain, and built in muffling, go for the powersonic, powerstroke, EMAD/GMAD, or superkick/impact.

      Good bass drum head

      By Whiplash92

Comments about Remo Ebony Series Pinstripe Bass Drumhead:

This drum head came on my used yamaha stage custom. I've had it for a year, and who knows how long it had been on there before that. I have another bass drum as well, so I don't play with 2 beaters on it, but I still play fast double bass, and I play fairly hard. No problems with it breaking. I do not like remo normally, but I do like this drum head. I may buy it again in the future.

Comments about Remo Ebony Series Pinstripe Bass Drumhead:

Well, the heads that came with my Joey Jordison kit just gave (less than 2 months), and I remembered I had these on my old kit as Res. heads, the sound is fairly decent....all depends on the tuning kids, I keep mine loose and these deliver a nice lil' punch, but for the money get the Aquarians with the snap-on plate.

I bought 2 of these for my 2 bass drums. One started to crack in the center, after a month. then when it gave about a week latter.. the other one started to crack. It took about 10 phone calls, and 20 E-mails to get them replaced. I still havent used the new one, and will not. I wanted my money back. Im a Evans man now.

      Pretty Sweet Head

Comments about Remo Ebony Series Pinstripe Bass Drumhead:

I've used this head for nearing a year before it burst. I didn't expect it to last as long as it did (I play pretty hard). There is a difference in the sound of my left and right pedals; I use a double bass pedal. It sounds great though.
