I have had these heads for a while on some not so good drums. I have these heads tuned perfectly and they sound amazing. I have one on top and bottom, and they do exactly what they're so supposed to. I don't get the unnecessary overtone. These heads are really great at muffling themselves and still holding up to the great remo quality sound you would expect. I highly recommend these heads to anyone looking for a good all around rock sound and very minimal overtone. Good job remo.

These heads have good and bad qualities. the good would be that they look unlike any other heads you could find. they are easy to tune, and fairly inexpensive. the bad, however, greatly outweighs the good. i got 5 of these heads for my 8-piece drum set and i wish i never did. i got them about 2 months ago and all of my 3 rack toms have cracked. they all seem to crack around the white stripe. i would not recommend getting these. if you want black heads, get black suede or regular remo ebony heads. so overall, these heads are not worth the time money and effort.

Remo didn't let this one down...

By pedaltones17

from Houston, TX

Comments about Remo Ebony Pinstripe Tom Head:

These heads are very nice and produce dark tones with little sustain and are good for alt. rock type playing, and are asthetically nice when they match the set. Though heavy-hitters be careful for these they seem to bust easier than others as I have used them for about a year now. Overall good value!

Deep and Dark

By FrenchGuy

from Rockford, IL

Comments about Remo Ebony Pinstripe Tom Head:

These heads are awesome! Besides their asthetic value they have a great sound. Their tone is deep and dark with lots and lots of warmth. You do have to play them a little heavier to get them to really "sing." All in all I was more than happy with the way they sound and feel. Great product!

Excellent Tunability, Awesome Sound

By Laoch

from Texas

Comments about Remo Ebony Pinstripe Tom Head:

I ordered this head in 10, 12, 13, 14, 16 and I am glad I did. This head has the look and sound you want for all your needs. I found the dampening I needed along with ease of tunability. All my high ring, overtone problems with the stock Pearl Protone heads are gone. You get the classic look of black with pinstripe which really sets off my black hardware. Superb product all around.

DEEP DARK AND WARM

By Ryan Lockwood

from Killeen, TX

Comments about Remo Ebony Pinstripe Tom Head:

I like a deep, low tone. I researched and found that these Ebony Pinstripes were the darkest and least resonant heads Remo makes. I was worried that it might be too much and that they might sound "dead". I used these on my Yamaha Stage Custom toms and bass and they sound awesome! They are a bit heavy. I naturally play pretty light. You need to lay into these bad boys a little in order to achieve their optimum tone. Enjoy!

Drum heads with class

By Dogstarr1

from Atlanta, GA

Comments about Remo Ebony Pinstripe Tom Head:

If you like black you're probably thinking these will look cool and they will, but more importantly they sound good, assuming you like a dark tone, which you probably do as you're looking at black drum heads. I haven't had trouble with busting any Remo heads and I'm usually a Bonham style heavy hitter when it comes to accoustic drums but they are a bit thicker(hence the slightly heavier/darker tone) than most drum heads. They do mark up easily if you're concerned about that, but these are still my favorite drum heads and will probably be yours if you don't already have one.

Rich Full and Heavy...What more can you ask for?

By Matt

from Irvine, CA

Comments about Remo Ebony Pinstripe Tom Head:

These are without a doubt the best heads I've used. I was constantly using EC2 heads, and though they give a good attack, they didn't have enough carry for me. Then I found the Ebony Pinstripes. These heads are amazing. The sound is very powerful and commanding without loud overtones and long decay. Perfect for a well rounded sound whether you're looking for a dark rich sound, or a crisp deep and warm sound. These are the best heads you can ask for, and on top of all that. They look great on any kit!

easy tunability

By Aaron

from Mayville, MI

Comments about Remo Ebony Pinstripe Tom Head:

wow these heads are really really easy to tune. i put these on my drums and within a few turns they sounded great. you still have to tune them up and fine tweak them to your liking but they sound amazing. i love these heads cause they sound deep and dark. and they can make almost any kit sound great. they look amazing, but they do mark up pretty easy but it doesn't affect the sound. they are great if you want the dark deep sound. top of the line head by remo.

Great dark, wet sound

By Jeffrey Horton

from Orcas Island, Washington

Comments about Remo Ebony Pinstripe Tom Head:

I have used the Ebony Pinstripe heads for many years, but this is my first 18". The head sounds great, as usual, and with the larger size toms it really makes them boom. My 18x16 is now called "thunder-tom". No over ring, tight enough to get doubles off of, and still deep. Love it.

First Quality Drum Head

By Dr. Flash

from Plano Texas

Comments about Remo Ebony Pinstripe Tom Head:

Remo heads are the best heads ever created! This heavier head is what you need for that dark and deep sound from your kit. I replaced all my tom heads with these pinstripes over a year ago and they made my kit sound great. Since this is a multi ply head with the dampener ring along the outer edge, you have to play these heads a little harder than original drum heads. Hitting them heavy really makes them sound great. Some drummers have said these heads will have marks on them after playing, but if you look at all drum heads, don't they all leave stick marks? The best thing is almost no over ring or over tones with these heads. With the outer ring between the layers gives these heads great sound control. Did I mention they look great? My kit is jet black and with these black pinstripes it makes the set look totally awesome!! This head is not advertised as a snare head, but I know a drummer who popped one of these on a wood snare & it sounded great. He even put one on a steel snare and it also sounded very good. These heads will hold up. They will take a beating and sound great too. Get these on your drums now!

Looking for a warmer sound? These'll do it for ya!

By Franklin Klock

from Summit Hill, PA

Comments about Remo Ebony Pinstripe Tom Head:

I recently restored a vintage Tempro Pro set from the 60s. There were white single ply Evans heads on the drums when I got them. They sounded OK, but hardly the warm full sound I was looking for. Kinda tinny actually. I originally set out looking for black heads to accent the vintage silver/gray Mother of pearl covering the shells had. I figured the ebony pinstripes were just the ticket - I was right, they look great! Now for the sound - WOW! Full, warm, dark, and with very little overtone. Exactly what I was looking for. You do have to play these heads a bit harder to get the full sound, but hey, that's no problem for me! Old drums+amazing heads=1 great combination! Remo Rules!

THE BEST

By Joe Havoc

from Woodland CA

Comments about Remo Ebony Pinstripe Tom Head:

I have been using these heads for about a month now and it has been the best purchase for drum heads I've ever made. It gives off a good deep sound that is awesome for all kinds of styles for music. I highly recommend these heads for any drummer. I play heavy metal, and they have taken every beating I have given, and they still come out sounding great.

amazing!!!

By James

from atlanta, georgia

Comments about Remo Ebony Pinstripe Tom Head:

These heads are great. I put them on my Gretch Catalina birch and they sang! They give my high toms lots of attack and punchiness, and they make my floor toms rumble. The only problem is if you tune them real low they get kinda boxy. But altogether amazing heads...best bang for your buck!

By Mr. Krinkle

from Santa Maria, CA

Comments about Remo Ebony Pinstripe Tom Head:

The remo ebony pinstripe heads are also good for snares! We have an ebony head on our snare in the jazz band at my school. They are good as them too for the sound and the feel to them. Good for jazz.

Best Remo Heads Out There

By The Massacre

from Grove City Ohio

Comments about Remo Ebony Pinstripe Tom Head:

I have had many REMO heads over the years, and I like the pinstripes the best. I play a variety of styles and am in various high school bands, (marching, jazz, pep...) and every show I play, I love the sound of my toms. In my band right now, I play metal/hard rock, so I like how they give my mounted toms punch and my floor toms tone. They last foREVer and sound great for batter and resonant heads, so if I were you, I'd go buy some!
