The Emperor-weight Black X drumhead is two plies of textured ebony 10-mil film with a 3-mil reverse dot, giving it X-treme durability with a unique aesthetic look. It projects enhanced mid-range warm tones with plenty of attack.
Because the texturing process is not a coating, the Black Suede series of drumheads will produce open warm tones and plenty of sustain.

AMAZING HEAD! love the sound and control the pitch has! goes great with my kit, thinking this is def my new snare head for life
I guess I like a brighter snare...this was the wrong choice for me. Looks good but has no snap, crackle or pop.
I've been trying out various heads on my tama stewart copeland signature snare for about 3 years now and I don't think I will have to look any further. This head is fantastic when tuned high, letting your snare cut through the band like butter. The head is very sensitive, capturing the most subtle ghost notes, and pops beautifully for those aggresive rim shots. However, I don't reccomend this head for those who like to tune their snare low and like extremely little to no ring as possible. Anyways, this head has opened my ears to the true voice of my snare and I highly reccomend it to anyone that feels their snare is being choked or simply just wants to crank things up to eleven!
Awesome head! No need for muffeling when tuned correctly. Iwas an Evens user for the last 6 years, but thought Iwould give this head a try, and now I'm a total Remo Fan! There isnt a usual coating to allow brush work, BUT I have Found A new sound altogether!! God Bless !!!!
The remo black x head is in a league of its on, simply because of the style, texture, and most of all its compelling sound rather soft or loud I recommend this head to any gospel drummer!!
This snare head surpasses any other that I've had in range of tone, durability, and overall sound. I've used Evans, Aquarian, and even other Remo snare heads don't compare at all. The Black X looks sic, but its sound is even better. One of the many recent best decisions I've made for my drums, along with Axis pedals, Rtom Moongels, and Remo Black Suade Emperor heads.
Blow me down...These heads sound GREAT!finally I don't need to tape or muffle.and the tone is massive.Using 13 and 16 for tom's 3 nights a week and when I roll down it is thunderous with remarkable depth and drop off..finally have a better sound onstage that triggers my dm5 beautifully...buy these heads! you will enjoy drumming even more.
