Great Head, I recently got it so I do not know about long term deals. When i popped them on, they had a great sound and I got that high pitch crack that I always wanted. I had the Emperor X heads before and I prefer the ambassadors than Emperors on my snare.

I bought these a year ago because I thought they would look good on my Grey Pewter Tama Superstar 7 piece kit. They do look amazing, but the first time I played them they just didn't sound very good. I thought maybe I just didn't tune them very well, but over the year I couldn't get a very good sound out of them. Then just last week I spent a couple days trying to get a good sound out of my drums, I had been tuning the resonant head first then I would put these on and the drum would just die so I tried tuning these first and they just don't resonate! The stock resonant heads sounded much better than these across the board from my 8" tom down to my 16" tom. I'm just not diggin' the sound. But they get two stars because they look so good. In the end, if your drums are just for decoration then buy these heads, but if you plan on playing them get something else. Anyone got any suggestions?

Amazing sound AND great looks

Comments about Remo Black Suede Ambassador Batter Drumhead:

I originally bought these to use as resos on my recording kit, but I ended up using them for batters on my gigging kit, and they are a big hit with the sound guys, and my bandmates---unless you want your toms to sound like bongos these heads are what you want---bring on the thunder!!!!

Comments about Remo Black Suede Ambassador Batter Drumhead:

Wait a minute. What's with all the bad reviews. I've been playing these heads for about a year and a half. Switched from Pinstripes. I thought they gave my deep Birch/Maple Ludwigs great attack. Nice and crisp with a medium on the resonance scale. They do look great. One thing is though I wish they lasted a bit longer. I don't have any dents or bad wear but they did lose almost all their resonance in about 8 months. Definately time for new ones now.

Comments about Remo Black Suede Ambassador Batter Drumhead:

Turns a nice kit into a very cheap sounding kit. Only good thing about them are the looks and they won't wear out like a coated ambassador. If all you do is play brushes, they're great. If not, stay away.

Great head. Nice deep and rich sound. They sound great for just about any genre, if you tune them right. They hold tune quite well. I would recommend these!

      Great Heads!!!!

      By Dustyn Bullard

Comments about Remo Black Suede Ambassador Batter Drumhead:

I just put these heads on my Pearl Forum kit, My floor tom has never sounded so good. From the day I bought my drums I have never been able to get my toms to sound right. They were way to ringy. I got these heads tuned them the same way I always tune my kit and what a suprise no more nasty overtones. Worth the extra cost if you want a great sounding head.

      Look great/sound bad

      By Paul R.-tI9I6

Comments about Remo Black Suede Ambassador Batter Drumhead:

I have had these heads for a year. I bought them because I thought they would look awesome with my grey pewter Tama Superstar kit and they do look amazing. But the first time I put them on i thought they didn't sound as good as the stock heads that came with my kit, but I convinced myself that maybe I didn't tune them very well. After a year of trying to get a good sound out of them I'm convinced they just don't tune well. I've tried using a drum dial and everything. Again they look amazing, but sound very bad.

      Great for Resonate heads

      By BongoBob

      from Michigan

Comments about Remo Black Suede Ambassador Batter Drumhead:

I purchased these to use as resonate heads on my kit. They give a great look from the bottom along with adding warmth to the sound. Try them in combo with Suede Emperors as batter heads, nice sound.

      Fooled by vanity

      By ytndndrummer

Comments about Remo Black Suede Ambassador Batter Drumhead:

I purchased this to use on my 14x5 maple snare because I liked the matte black finish. When I finally got it in tune, it was Way too bright and ringy, even with a moongel. Stick with the regular coated unless you prefer super bright with a lot of overtones.
