This is a great head. It is a single ply coated head, similar to the Evans G1 Coated. I haven't used it on toms, but it goes great on a snare. This head on the batter side with your choice of a snareside head is awesome. You can get a great sound out your drum. It does have some ring to it, but that's just the drum's resonance. You could dampen it if you want. Overall, this is a wonderful drum head for your snare and probably for your toms as well.

Don't get me wrong. I love this head. It's durable, clean cut, and has an unmatched sound. But if your the kind of person who puts heart and soul into your kit and plays hard everytime, this head will eventually fail you. It did for me. It lasted only a month and a half but it worked fine the entire time. Great head.

REMO'S ARE KING!

By Gtron

from San Diego, CA

Comments about Remo Ambassador Coated Head:

First, Do NOT settle for cheap heads. Second, Remo's are a great blend of toughness/balance/value. All around you can not get better than the Ambassador's, I think they are the best coated head. For heavy drumming, Evan G1's don't hold up.

Great... except coating

By Chris

from Orinda, CA

Comments about Remo Ambassador Coated Head:

These heads produce a great warm, open full bodied tone from my toms and snare. the problem is that the coating is awful and coems off after only a few hours of playing. that's why i would reccomend the evans g1 coated heads, their coating tends to last much longer than Remo's.

Best Heads Ever

By Matt

from South Bend, IN

Comments about Remo Ambassador Coated Head:

The Remo Weatherking Coated Ambassadors are the best heads I've ever played on. They get a warm, bright sound, without being to dark or muffled. They are great for playing brushes or sticks. I have them on all my toms and my snare on my pdp kit with ZBT's. These heads aren;t as durable as their emperor counterparts, but they get much better sound.

Whoa!

By Kevin

from Elgin, IL

Comments about Remo Ambassador Coated Head:

The batter side of my snare broke after me playing just a little too hard, so I decided to go out and buy a brand new head! Did some research and came across this beauty! Oh do I love it. Makes my snare sound much warmer. I would DEFINITELY recommend it !

oh my god

By Twinkie

from Tampa Bay, FL

Comments about Remo Ambassador Coated Head:

The tone, the endurance, the quality, this is the drum head for the drummer that wants a high quality drumhead at an affordable price, that will show up and show out whenever it is called upon. I've played the drums for fourteen years using all kinds of equipment, and never have I found anything that can out-perform the Ambassador coated line of drum heads by Remo. Their durability and tonal qualities are amazing, I play on a lower end kit now, but I swear the sound given off by these heads creates an expensive sound with little investment.

Recommended and Respected

By unholylove88

Comments about Remo Ambassador Coated Head:

What can I say, it's a tried and true classic. And when in combination with a clear-bottom (Amb/Emp) it makes a dynamic duo for both studio work and gigging. Never too resonant, or too dark/muffled. Very bright, and well-rounded tones. I've tried others, but still revert to the Remo's.

The head by which all others are judged

By Sly

from NC

Comments about Remo Ambassador Coated Head:

I've tried using thicker snare heads with the black dot and everything and they sounded horrible compared to these. Beautiful sound, crisp and cuts through the whole band. Tough as nails, too. I've got mine cranked about as tight as it will go and it sounds sweet. I'd never buy any other drumhead except for Remo. Their track record speaks for themselves.

Ok...but

By Tristan

from Texas

Comments about Remo Ambassador Coated Head:

I bought this because I was looking for a drum head that made a short crisp sound. It makes a long crisp sound, but thats just because of my renasonce head. It's a great buy just make sure you have some good renasonce heads to go with it otherwise it can really alter the sound your looking for

          Snap, crackle, pop

          By brettbags

          from NJ

Comments about Remo Ambassador Coated Head:

Another fine product made by Remo. I have a 14" weatherking coated abassador head on my Pearl Export snare and it sounds amazing. It does have a little ring to it but I bought the moongel dampening strips and that took care of that. This is a great snare head and it really gave me the snap, crackle, and pop that I was looking for in a head. I have been using this about a month now and the coating is still holding up fine and I will definetly pick up another one of these drum heads when that time comes. Thanks Remo!

          Awesome Resonant Head on Toms

          By Joey Jimenez

          from Santa Ana, CA

Comments about Remo Ambassador Coated Head:

Benny Greb stated that a key part to his drum sound was his Ambassador Coated resonant heads. They add warmth to the drum while allowing it to be as open sounding as possible. I use them on my Legacy Classics and I have Vintage A's as batters. The drums are open and extremely warm sounding. They really sing. I highly recommend them as resonant heads. Benny likes Coated Ambassadors on the batter side as well, which will really open up the pure tone and sustain of the drum with fantastic warmth. Or Coated Emperors if the room is especially bright sounding.

          AWESOME SNARE HEAD

          By marinecorpsdrummerboy1

          from Niantic, CT

Comments about Remo Ambassador Coated Head:

This is one of the best snare batter heads out on the market! The 13" version along with the 13" clear ambassador snare side head came with my Pearl Joey Jordison Signature Snare Drum. When both the batter and resonant are tuned almost as tight as possible, and you tighten the snare wires as tight as possible, you get that awesome high pitched SNAP! with a medium overtone. My only problem is it would be better for the durability if this was a 2-ply head. But other than that, GREAT HEAD!

          great head

          By AJ

          from Greensboro, NC

Comments about Remo Ambassador Coated Head:

Very nice head i have on my snare. obviously not as good as Emperor but the next best thing. Only head i'd rather have was the Controlled Sound Reverse Dot Emperor snare head. when i went to get one they were sold out so i quickly went to Powerstroke 3. coating chips off way too easily, but a very good head even for hard hitters like me

          Very nice

          By Biff Schaefer

          from Livermore, Ca.

Comments about Remo Ambassador Coated Head:

This is a very clean and warm sounding head. Brought my snare sound back to what I'm looking for. The coating wears quickly and I am not sure of the durability yet which is why I haven't given it a 5 star rating
