First, Do NOT settle for cheap heads. Second, Remo's are a great blend of toughness/balance/value. All around you can not get better than the Ambassador's, I think they are the best coated head. For heavy drumming, Evan G1's don't hold up.
The batter side of my snare broke after me playing just a little too hard, so I decided to go out and buy a brand new head! Did some research and came across this beauty! Oh do I love it. Makes my snare sound much warmer. I would DEFINITELY recommend it !
I've tried using thicker snare heads with the black dot and everything and they sounded horrible compared to these. Beautiful sound, crisp and cuts through the whole band. Tough as nails, too. I've got mine cranked about as tight as it will go and it sounds sweet. I'd never buy any other drumhead except for Remo. Their track record speaks for themselves.
