Very good

This Djembe has a great low end, and the high end sounds just as good. Very durable, high quality sound, and the price isn't bad either. I found that it sounds better than the LP Djembes mentioned above, with a more organic sound than the LP djembes. I compared this Djembe with "Traditional" rope-tuned djembes from Toca and Meinl when I was shopping for a djembe, and I found that this djembe by far sounded better, with deeper bass, more sustained highs, and it was more comfortable to play. Definately a high quality drum for all applications.

Djembe; A blast to play

I just bought this exact Djembe, (The Remo 14" World Percussion Djebe). I then bought two more. My friends and I have drum circles every Saturday night - what a great time we have. These drums sound unreal. The highs have sustaining ring tones. The lows are deep and warm sounding. These drums really perform in the recording studio. I've been playing drums for over 25 years and I just found a new style and a new sound to go with my projects. I am very pleased with these drums. It's also nice to be able to find these drums in stock for immediate purchase and play. Thank you, Remo.

decent for what it is

As far a build quality, features and value, Remo djembes certainly score the highest marks. However for overall sound, they lack warmth when compared with the real thing. They are somewhat harsh and thin - somewhat plastic. I would only recommend this product for the casual hand drummer, drum circle participants, and maybe for the pro who doesn't want to risk damaging a more expensive and sensitive proper djembe when gigging; along with the added benefit of a tunable synthetic head. A great drum to own, but not in any way comparable to an authentic drum or to the Pearl and LP models.

Deep bass, warm tones!!!

My wife bought me this drum for Christmas and I love it!!! I want to learn more about the "correct" way to play it. It simply sounds great though, I have the Black Earth model with soft case.

So Cool!

This djembe is angry! In a good way! In a great way! I pulled it out of the box and the look blew me away. Killer black!!! The black head has to be the coolest thing. It looks like a black version of the Remo Fiberskin snare drum head. I gave it a quick tune and off I go!!! Had it 3 days and I'm able to get about six different tones!!! From high pinches to some pretty low booms. I'd like more boom, but I think I have to go to a 16" or 18" djembe for the 808 style boom. I love this black beauty of a djembe. You can be damn sure that I'll be jamming on this thing for years to come. Bring IT!!! a.d.o.
