The head is well-made with quality materials. There is a muffling ring built into the inside rim of the head to eliminate ringing, I am really happy with how this seemingly minimal muffling has changed my sound. This kick drum head has given me a solid, punchy sound. Recommended.
The port works dark ebony magic. A thudtastic head I'd recommend to anyone who wants a sweet, unadulterated punch from their kick.
This reso head is great. I use a clear Powerstroke 3 on the batter side with a Remo Falam Slam Pad and a Tama Iron Cobra wooden beater, which gives me a nice, somewhat clicky sound. Without all of this, though, you will get a great boomy, traditional bass drum sound. Naturally, with my tuning, there's very little sustain. Without them, there's a moderate amount of sustain, which is good for projection. So it's quite versatile. I'll buy it again!
