The Diplomat Head is incredibly thin. Taking it out of the box, I thought I was removing a layer of cellophane covering the head, but no- that's actually the head itself. This is to be expected of a single ply reso head, but the Diplomat feels especially flimsy. I put the Diplomat on and cranked it up a little bit, with an Evans Genera Dry on top. It took awhile for the two to warm up to each other, but with a little fine tuning, that Diplomat Head really brings the top and bottom of your sound. I noticed a distinguished pop and crack I was getting out of the head, projecting more in the 'tang' range than in the 'bop', and my snares were practically singing. I know that Neil Peart of Rush was using the Diplomat for awhile, so that should be an indication of its quality. There's only one problem I've had with it: they blow out on occasion. I've gone through two of these in the past six months. I'm willing to deal with that though, because these heads are the only ones that deliver that specific crack that I love so much.
