The standard for great snare sound!

Introduced in 1968, CONTROLLED SOUND heads are single-ply Ambassador-weight heads with a 5 mil dot in the center of the head. This combination offers a controlled, centered sound without undesirable overtones. These dual-zone heads have a combination of medium and heavy-duty drumhead characteristics. The outer area of the head's playing surface offers a midrange tone and sensitivity while the laminated center dot eliminates high frequency overtones and adds durability and tonal focus to meet the demands of heavier hitters.

  • Nothing better!

As reviewed by Bill on 1/5/2009

I have been though many a snare head, Evans "hd" Dry, "ST" Dry, Aquarian studio and Focus X..Etc..In the end I dont know why I waste my money looking for something else, The road always leads back to this Remo CS reverse dot head! It is simply the best sounding snare head I have ever heard and I have heard alot! It is awesome Live with an ear splitting crack, it takes away just enough of the ring but not to much, it just makes any snare sound incredible! Dont bother with all the gimmicks and dry this and tough that...You want the best head on your snare? Hit the order button Now! This is the Best!

  • Wonderful Head

As reviewed by Peter on 9/26/2006

I used to have this head on one of my snares and I loved it. It gave a good amount of built in dampening, but didn't kill the drum's tone. It's a pretty durable head as well, depending on how hard you hit. I haven't used this head on toms, but it works wonderfully on snares. Go ahead and try this head for yourself!

  • Clean Sound

As reviewed by Rigo on 3/25/2010

I put this head on my Pearl Soundcheck snare - the entry level drums - with an Ambassador as my resonant head, and now my snare sounds like a professional snare. I have little to no buzz when I hit my toms (I changed the stock batter heads to Pinstripe). The tone is a bit difficult to describe for me; it sounds a bit dark, I guess. There is little when you hit the snare, so it is a controlled sound, as advertised. The best place to strike this head is in the center; striking anywhere else wouldn't sound so great.
