Been looking for a decent, inexpensive round neck resonator for a couple of years, playing them whenever I could, and reading watching LOTS of reviews. I've test-driven a bunch of different resos, and never found the one that I loved... and that fit my budget (under $500. I went to the Greensboro North Carolina store yesterday, tuned every roundneck they had to Open D, and played slide on 'em all: a Gibson Hound Dog, the Gretsch Boxcar, a Gold Tone, a couple others...and this Regal RD-30 V. It was my final choice. First off, it's a real beauty, aesthetically. Great looking dark, vintage sunburst. (The pictures on the GC don't do it justice at all). More importantly, it sounds phenomenal. (The guy at the store gave me a free set of Martin Medium strings, and a set-up which basically consisted of a slight neck adjustment). When I got on it with the glass slide, it had that smooth, low moan that I've been looking for forever. I could feel it my bones...Words actually escape me as I write this...How can something like that be described? I can't wait to get back home to play it.
