Comments about Regal Tip John"JR" Robinson Performer Series Drumsticks:
I am a finicky player. I like what I like. My gear is an extension of my body. Play an instrument for years, and your body expects that certain feel, sound & response. I played Capella 1A sticks for nearly 20 years (for those who don't know, in its heyday, Cappella produced sticks for many private-label companies, including Vic Firth, ProMark, Gretsch, Slingerland, LP, Tama, Ludwig, Zildjian, Rogers, Premier, Fibes & Dean Markley; and they were played by such greats as Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa, Elvin Jones, Mel Lewis, Joe Morello, Charlie Watts & Bernard Purdie, not to mention the LA jazz cult that bought up every last one in the end). Since Capella closed their NJ factory a few years ago, I've looked for a replacement for that 1A stick. It took a long time...a long, frustrating time. One day, I happened upon the Regal Tip JR Performer. JR probably used that same stick, because this is it almost EXACTLY. When he says it's the stick he's always imagined, believe him! There's nothing else out there like it. Extra length, perfect balance, weight, feel, durability. I use them for rock (I'm no wuss) and jazz. That's what I love about them; they feel right at any velocity. Get 'em. Oh, save one pair for comparison, just in case they stop making these some day.
