Comments about Regal Tip Classic Brushes:

This is one of those pieces of drum set that every drummer ought to start out with, if they don't have a better idea of what to use. For instance, if you have junky or beat up hats, you want to get a set of 14" Zildjian A New Beats, new or used to get a good start. Upgrading a cheap snare?--you maybe check for a deal on a used Ludwig SupraPhonic, or at least an Acrolite. Heads--Remo coated Ambassadors. You get the idea: start with something that works, learn, develop your own sound, repeat... Well these brushes are where you want to start as you move toward a different sound than you get just using sticks. My first pair was Pro-Mark TB-4, a fine set but a bit clumsy in feel to me, even though I use their Shiri-Kashi Oak sticks exclusively. Just recently decided to change my brushes, did a bit of Googling and came to these Regal Tip Classics... Voila! Thinner wires, great, balanced, pro feel to the hands, and a nice sound on my snare's Skyntone batter. Very happy drummer! Of course, GC's great service was icing on the cake. IMHO, the "Classic" name is well deserved so I recommend them as a brush a drummer looking to try something new to put high on their Short List of must-have goodies.

      The Prefered Brushs

      By Robert Berry

      from NYC

Comments about Regal Tip Classic Brushes:

When first starting with brushes, I began with the Regal Tip Classics. For over fifty years I've tried plastic, wood gripped, wooden rods and curved tipped brushes and always came back to the Regal Classics. These brushes give a great swish when sweeping across textured heads. Their wires are flexible providing a variety of sounds if you choose to snap your wrist, slap the heads or roll the brushes back and forth over the heads with your palms. The rubber grip is solid and give a nice effect when played on cymbals. The adjustable spread control is invaluable in holding your desired brush spread in place. The Classic's only down side, which is a minor one for me, is that they are too flexible to play loudly. If you are pushing a big band or playing a large venue, the Regal Tip Jeff Hamilton's would be a better choice. They have stiffer brushes and all of the structural advantages of the Classics.

      Jazz Only

      By Ralph Cooper

Comments about Regal Tip Classic Brushes:

Sorry to say, I have blown two of these up within a week just playing snap beats. Suddenly, a shower of metal bristles pops all over the stage. Treat them gently and they sound and work fine. Do not count on them for hard playing.

      Fun

      By Nick

      from Langhorne, PA

Comments about Regal Tip Classic Brushes:

These are my first brushes but they are fun for playing jazz or just practicing any type of music quietly. If you are going to get brushes get these. Just beware that they dirty my drum heads a lot but that is the least of my concerns.
