Maple is not good for heavy hitters! I love the feel and sound of these 8A Maples, however, I wouldn't play them on loud gigs with PA's and Amps to compete with. They will break. For lighter acoustic and Jazz gigs, however, I think you will find that they are effortless sticks.
I have been using 8A's for awhile. But I was using Hickory. I have been having alot of problems with my wrists and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome due to my job. My hands were going numb very fast when I played my drums. I tried these sticks and it made a huge difference. They are still the size I like but the Maple is lighter. I don't feel my wrists straining and they seem to absorb more vibration.
