THE BEST STRINGS I HAVE EVER PLAYED!!!!!!

By Alex Wilcox

from Houston, Texas

Comments about Red Strings Copper Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings - Medium:

Two months ago I purchased a set of Medium Red Strings. They still have the same tone and brilliance today as the day I brought them home and put them on my Taylor Big Baby. I'm going right now to buy another set for my Fender Sonoran!!! EXTREMELY BRIGHT & WARM!!! VERY WELL-BALANCED!!!!!!!!!!

Such a let down

By Cragie Sea

Comments about Red Strings Copper Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings - Medium:

I purchased these strings for a nice older Hohner I found in a pawn shop. Normally I use Martin medium bronze. However this guitar is very dark so I was going for a phosphor-bronze brighter sting with more sustain. Should have stuck with the martin SP's! The Reds who had built themselves up and sounded like the future had arrived in the world of copper strings, where duller then the reg. bronze strings. These things are expensive as well. To top it all off I was stretching them out good because they would not stay in tune and the G string popped. Stay with Martin or what you already know, trust, and enjoy. Cheers to all ! Keep your Songs alive in you

Beautiful sound

By Robert Donty

from Sacramento, CA

Comments about Red Strings Copper Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings - Medium:

I've noticed that these strings settle better than a lot of other acoustic strings, but you want to play them at the tuning you want for at least 90 minutes or so. They are great for strumming, however, since I play solo acoustic, and tend to play a lot of alternate tunings, they do tend to snap easily as they do not adjust well. These would be good around the campfire, or playing an open mic with some buddies, but no alternate tunings, as mine snapped while I was tuning them. Another drawback is you have to be careful with these, because they snap very easily when you're first tuning them. But, to me, if I ever get an acoustic that will sit in my corner and I'll only play if someone wants to sing along, I'd use these. They have a seemingly louder projection and a warmer tone. The color is pretty psychedelic as well. Pros: -Great sound -More projection -Louder -Warmer -Good sustain -Trippy red color -Doesn't tend to fall out of tune after settling often Cons: -Should only use in standard tuning -Takes awhile to break in -Strings snap easily after the strings settle (within a day, so play them and tune them quickly.) -The G string has very noticeably less strain than other strings -Terrible with solo pieces, should only use with chords or fingerpicking bridges.

A Step in the Right Direction; Not the Solution.

By Justin Larsen

from Tampa, FL

Comments about Red Strings Copper Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings - Medium:

I bought these strings as an experiment, not really knowing what to expect. Out of the box, these strings are incredibly warm, bright, and percussive; overall some of the best sounding strings I've played. They are also the Loudest set of strings I've ever purchased. However, due to the higher copper content in the bronze, these strings have a significantly shorter shelf life than your average set of Martins. Within a week of light-to-moderate use, the warmth had started to fade, the articulation had started to lose its crispness, and the brilliance was quickly diminishing. The strings were completely dead after about three weeks of not very vigorous use. If you are an active musician who restrings his guitar before every gig, I recommend these strings wholeheartedly. Once they settle, they have a level of warmth that you are not going to find with any other guitar string. If you are more economical with your string use, these strings are fun to experiment with, but have a set of Martins or Elixers ready to use when they die.

Dead D and G string

By Travis Lillard

from Virginia

Comments about Red Strings Copper Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings - Medium:

Well unfortunately I bought into the "warmer tone" hype and decided to try these strings. The D and G strings are completely dead sounding right out of the package. I've never heard a string sound that bad even when I've had a set on way too long. Even the cheapest strings I've ever bought didn't sound as bad as those two strings. The low E, A, B and high E are fine. They ring out pretty well. Not sure if I just got a bad lot. But, if this is normal then I would seriously recommend not wasting your money.

Know What You Are Buying

Comments about Red Strings Copper Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings - Medium:

To add to my earlier favorable review: 1) These strings are big, fat and warm-sounding. I like them. But if you want crisp, bright-sounding strings, get 80/20s, not REDs. 2) They do not respond well to being stretched when you put them on; just put them on the guitar, tune 'em up, and that's it. 3) They want changing after a month or two of steady use; if you want l-o-n-g life, get coated strings. If you want rich tone above all, try these! Know what you're getting and what you're not getting, and you'll be happy.

Great Sound

By Fishel

from Providence, RI

Comments about Red Strings Copper Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings - Medium:

These are absolutely the best-sounding strings I've ever had on my Gibson J-45. Big, rich sound. It is true, however, that they lose their tone faster than many other brands. But then, I've paid even more for imported strings that died even faster! Life is full of trade-offs. Try these; see what you think.
