Torrefaction is a specialized heating process used on Recording King Adirondack (Red) spruce tops in which the wood is heated at a low temperature in an oxygen-free environment. The curing process reduces impurities in the wood and results in weight reduction and increased stiffness, producing a similar chemical transformation as wood that has been dried for decades. The end result is a lightweight, extra resonant top that produces similar tone to a vintage instrument that's been loved and played for years.

The RD-T16 has a solid torrefied Adirondack spruce top that provides the foundation for Recording King's Torrefied Series Dreadnought. The tone of the torrefied top is impressive, and when paired with the mahogany back and sides results in guitars with extra punch, projection and warm, vintage-style tone everywhere on the fretboard.

Whether you're a singer-songwriter or fingerpicker, the Recording King Torrefied Series guitars are an excellent way to achieve rich, old school tone in a modern instrument.

Comments about Recording King Torrefied Series RD-T16 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

Gonna start off by saying i love anything recording king.. ive had a recording king rd-227 for years and it simply cant be beat.. im constantly complimented on it and usually hear "wow that sounds better than a martin" or "that guitar is beautiful!" Now on to this guitar.. love the look of the top! Not crazy about the back and sides though.. i didnt pay much attention when i ordered it and was surprised about getting a guitar with almost blonde looking back and sides.. which i wasnt very happy about.. but as far as the sound it sounds GREAT! Never would've expected this kind of sound out of a $400-$500 guitar.. but of course its a recording king! Which are highly underrated.. but now to the negative.. the strings that came on the guitar actually sounded pretty good.. not great but good.. but i never play anything but elixir medium strings.. so i swapped them out and turns out the nut is set up for light gauge strings because the mediums wouldnt go in.. which caused MAJOR buzzing.. even after slotting the holes enough for the string it buzzed.. the nut seems extremely high to me while the saddle is almost non existent.. which leaves no room to sand a little off.. so ive had the guitar for about 2 weeks and im trying to make time to go have it professionally set up.. so pretty much it was a great guitar when i opened the box but if you plan on any bigger than light gauge strings be prepared to do a full set up (not just adjust the truss rod and go)
