Recording King's classic tricone resonator has three 6" Recording King cones that transfer incredibly loud tones through the body of the guitar. The cones are positioned with two on the bass side and one on the treble side, giving an EQ balance with a sweeter, warmer sound.

The Recording King tricone is made from nickel-plated bell brass and features a T-shaped bridge with an ebony and maple saddle. The bridge is connected to the center of each cone so that when the strings are hit, the vibrations run through the saddle and then into the bridge. This tricone has a distinct tone and long sustain characterized by brilliant overtones and a natural ambiance only found in resonator instruments.

Awesome, but came with a few blemishes

Comments about Recording King RM-991-S Tricone Resonator Guitar with Squareneck:

I ordered and this arrived fairly quickly. Looks like it shipped out from Utah. PROS: This resonator is a beautiful piece of work. Picked it up and fell in love instantly. Definitely feels like heavy duty artillery. Love the smooth mirror finish. Looks like Megatron from the Transformers. At least 13-14 lbs. The feel of the body and the back of the neck is smooth and solid. This really has some mean dynamics: from whisper to very loud. Will definitely cut through a crowd. And the sustain will last for days. Came with extremely heavy gauge strings. Tone is bold, warm and natural sounding. Overall the playability is good. CONS: I know that no guitar is perfect but: - The main disappointment was that the guitar came with a blemish (looks like a small crack near the middle of the neck on the 1st string side. Also, the higher fretboard area (from 12 and up) look like they were sanded down recently and have obvious horizontal sand paper marks. They do not appear to be as smooth like the lower fretboard area. - Perhaps this one slipped by QC? - I?m just concerned about the crack on the neck. Maybe another reason to get the GC coverage just in case this may lead to something bigger down the road. - Buzzes a little when barring in the lower 3 fret area. - Also, all the tuning pegs feel loose, like they?re not on all the way correctly. I?ll talk to GC Customer service about these QC issues and see what they can do.
