I have an extensive rack system I use to mount my synthesizer modules for sound recording. I purchased the single-space rack shelf for my portable rig to mount a non-mountable MIDI sound device. The single-space rack works perfectly for mounting such devices and equipment. The Raxxess single-space utility shelf is very well built using 16-gauge steel. I would purchase this brand of rack equipemnt again becuase I like the fit, finish, and sturdy construction. It is not necessarily the cheapest in the price range of rack components, but then again, you get what you pay for, and the Raxxess certainly delivers for the money.
thick. durable. does exactly what you want it to do and doesnt break unless youre putting an extreme amount of weight on it (even then, just brac it properly and you shoud be fine.) i have to disagree with this being a one-trick pony, as i've flipped the the thing and its jutting out of my rack to hold a 3 octave synth - and when i play it, its still just as sturdy.
I have a Raxxess 2 space utility shelve installed in my rack. It is built very well (16 gauge steel). I use the unit to store units in my rack that are not mountable. I store tools in one space and several items such as a backup CD player and cable in the other. This unit is a one trick pony that does exactualy what it is intended for. The unit is sturdy and I would strongly recomend them. They are a little pricy but I assuer you they are worth the cost for the durability.
