  • Poorly made, stupidly packeged, chinchy piece o' s

As reviewed by Hoobie on 4/17/2007

Why isn't there a well made, reasonably made, carefully conceived affordable pop filter out there? It's not rocket science. There just isn't much choice in this price range. Mine wouldn't assemble - the threaded parts don't match. The packaging (heavy plastic lamenated to cardboard) stuck to the fabric screen and damaged it on removal. The round frame holding the fabric is plastic, so one can expect the threads on the angle adjustment pivot will strip out in due course. The mount for where it attaches tot eh mic stand ought to be padded or ruberized so as not to scratch, but it isn't. The gooseneck is okay, and and the fabric does a reasonable job filtering out modest pops. So it does work alright in that sense, and if you get one that will assemble, it will probably do okay until it breaks.

  • Brought to you by the letters "P" and "S\

As reviewed by jimlet on 10/4/2006

As I quickly learned, a pop filter in an invaluable tool for the home recording studio. A great vocal track can be ruined by plosives (think the letter "p") and sibilance (the hiss of the letter "s"). Although I'd been told you can make your own from a hanger and a nylon stocking, I wasn't truly in the mood to MacGyver it up and run down to the drug store to buy stockings...plus I wanted something sturdy for teh studio that would last. I'm happy to say that this pop filter is perfect for my needs, and at this price, it's practically a no-brainer. Best $25 upgrade to my recording studio in a long time.
