Overview

This half stack includes the Randall RX Series RX120RH 120W Guitar Amp Head and the Randall RX412 Speaker Cabinet.

Randall's goal was to develop a more affordable guitar amp with the tone of much larger combo amps and stacks. The RX tone circuits deliver a modern Randall tone with plenty of tight lows and enough top-end sizzle to satisfy any metal guitarist.

The RX412 speaker cabinet delivers a sound that rivals the tone and power of much larger, more expensive boxes thanks to its 4 - 12" Jaguar speakers.

Excellent Amp For Watch it's worth

    By

    from NJ

Comments about Randall RX120RH and RX412 Half Stack:

I wanted to upgrade to a cabinet for the 12'' practice amp I had. After lots of research I came to the decision that this was the one for me. It is a great solid state amp that had a really nice clean setting and some great overdrive. It will require some distortion pedals to boost the overdrive if you are looking for a Metal tone. However the amp does have a nice classic crunch/rock sound with the gain all the way up. It does also pack a natural punch without pedals giving it that true "cabinet" feel and sound. I am currently running my Boss ME-70 pedals through it and using a cheap-o Peavy raptor guitar that I bought to learn on 6 years ago. (Getting a Les Paul next so stoked!) Honestly, with the right pedals you can play any type of style on this amp.

    classic rock monster

    By

    from Higganum CT

Comments about Randall RX120RH and RX412 Half Stack:

Dude, This amp is a classic rock monster! U R able 2 dial in crisp lively clean tones as well as warm sweet resonant tones. Ideal for country, blues, and solid gold flavors on the clean channel. While in overdrive, start pumping up the volume where a little nasty gets involved....forget about it ...now you've got deep chunk and meaty rhythm chords for hard rock and heavy metal! The cabinet is perfectly voiced to handle the quietest of operation or the most amount of distortion. Someone please stop me this rig looks killer and sounds professional. Talk about versatility, value, quality...plug in the headphones and play at midnight! So over all forget about buying the 67 coupe get a Randall 120 RX half stack instead.

I really want to give it 4.5 stars. But not bad at all!

Comments about Randall RX120RH and RX412 Half Stack:

I got the half stack in yesterday and here is how I feel so far. The amp sounds really solid in tone and thats with any channel your on. The distortion is actually not that bad but depending on your style of music can define your opinion. If your a metal guitarist of any sort (unless your a metallica cover guy) then I would definitely recommend a distortion pedal or whatever you want to run to the rig. I also want to add even though you get the 4 50 watt jaguar speakers you are not going to have Dimes sound. I see that a lot people expect that they will get the tone because they have a Randall lol thats not the case. Now I can say this you can achieve lots of your favorite artists tone with factory settings but build your own rig and you'll get dimes sounds or whoever your looking for. Overall great amp, good power, and a really good price! The reason I would give it 4.5 stars is because it doesnt NOT come with speaker cable. Which at the same time is fine but would me nice to be able to play right when it comes in. Keep rocking!

    Good with some kinks

    By

    from Seattle Wa

Comments about Randall RX120RH and RX412 Half Stack:

Have had this Amp/cab for about 8 months. played countless shows with it. Playing much more djenty metal its hard to dial in the perfect tone, not the most versatile amp. I will say that it cuts through the mix. the FX Loop is useful but whenever i try to plug any pedal into it i get an annoyingly loud high pitched squeal. It's a good amp for the price, but if you want a better tone, run a ts9 or a Maxon od808 with a noise gate in front of the amp to remove the massive low end that dominates the amp. For modern tone this amp comes up short.

this amp is absolutely amazing!!! I wish i could give it 8 stars!!!!

Comments about Randall RX120RH and RX412 Half Stack:

Well I've had this amp about a week. First of all let me say that for the price this is an amazing deal. The design looks very cool and it sounds about as close to a tube amp as you can get without buying a tube amp. I've found you can get just about any sound out of this amp such as AC/DC, Metallica from their early years and their newer stuff, Alice In Chains, Jimi Hendrix, Van Halen, and I'm sure there's more. It's also really cool that a foot pedal is included to let you switch between the 2 channels and turn the reverb on and off. Also anyone who says that this amp doesn't sound good unless you crank it way up is lying. I can turn it up to 2 and that's plenty loud. And if you're playing with a band then turning anywhere between 4 and 7 should be enough. There are only some very minor problems. When you turn up the gain you'll start to get a bit of buzzing but that happens with pretty much every amp. To get rid of this I simply bought an MXR M-135 Smart Gate Pedal which is a little expensive but it's well worth the money. The second problem is that this amp doesn't offer pro coverage and is non-returnable. This is the reason that I bought the cabinet and head separately. If you buy the cabinet on its own you can add 3 years of pro coverage and it comes with a 30 day return guarantee. Now if you want the head Guitar Center doesn't sell it but if you go to musicians friend they can sell it to you and you can buy a 3 year warranty for it. Don't worry about buying from musicians friend either as they are subsidiary of Guitar Center so they're a legit website. So buying both separately is definitely the best way to go. Although the option is up to you on whether or not to buy this amp but I can guarantee you won't find another stack amp that's as good or as cheap as this one. You'll also want to buy a speaker cable as this amp won't come with one. I suggest buying a Live Wire 16-Gauge Speaker Cable. I bought a 5 foot cable but a 3 foot would be long enough. And the last important thing is that if you want to get the best sound out of this amp then you'll want to use high output pickups. I use an EMG 81 & EMG 85 on my Les Paul.
