A slim-body cutaway acoustic electric featuring 12-fret, short-scale NS neck.

The Shorty-FT Acoustic-Electric Guitar is RainSong's smallest and most refined body shape with a unidirectional soundboard, hybrid body construction and a short scale 12-fret neck. It's the perfect combination for an intimate instrument with a warm tone and surprising punch.

Shorty's neck joins the body at the 12th fret rather than the 14th fret. This moves the bridge back on the soundboard towards the center of the lower bout resulting in improved sonic energy transmission from the strings to the soundboard and enhanced bass response.

Humidity and temperature resistant construction
Unidirectional carbon mimics the tight grain of a fine Spruce soundboard. First introduced on the Concert Series, this soundboard is RainSong's lightest. The Hybrid body technology blends the crystalline highs of carbon with the mellow tones of glass. The synergy between the unidirectional soundboard and the hybrid body is obvious from Shorty's first strum.

The SFT features the Fine Texture, UV protective, polyurethane finish that gives the instrument a subtle yet tough look. Includes case.

  • Rainsong Shorty FT acoustic-electric

As reviewed by tim gadban on 4/22/2013

I was intrigued by Rainsong guitars and tried out a couple at a local acoustic guitar store. I settled on a Shorty FT acoustic-electric and ordered one from GC. My stable of acoustics includes a Gibson J185, Gibson MK53, Taylor 714CE & Ovation Elite 1778T. I have been playing the Rainsong for two weeks now and to put it simply it blows them all out of the water. Tonal integrity from bass to treble is amazing, as is the acoustic response and volume. The factory-set action is perfect (for me) and I appreciate the 1-3/4 inch nut width. On this particular model the 12th fret (where the neck joins the body) is exactly equidistant between the nut and the bridge, and this makes for some wonderful harmonic overtones. Throw in a well designed Fishman Prefix pickup and the fact that the graphite material is light, tough and impervious to humidity and you have both my thumbs up. Also included is a rugged hard shell case. All this for a very fair price ... I would recommend that any serious picker try one out. Also a big thankyou to the Rainsong Guitar company folks in Woodinville, Washington for creating such a wonderful acoustic guitar!

  • Great travel guitar

As reviewed by Martin on 6/22/2015

My wife plays an OM 1. We do a lot of car camping and this is the perfect travel guitar for her. We don't worry about it like the OM 1 and can leave it in a hot or cold car if necessary. Initially the sound was almost too bright. I don't know what strings it comes with, but I have come to love the sound. My wife is 5'4" and the short neck is very comfortable. The surface is scratchy if you drag your fingers, and you have to be a bit mindful of that. I don't have much occasion to plug it in, but acoustically the guitar is everything we expected and more.
