Unique in design and in tone.

The RainSong Black Ice Series BI-WS1000N2 is an acoustic-electric guitar that embodies artistry in every graphite fiber from which it's constructed. The soundboard on this Rainsong guitar is meticulously crafted individually to make every Black Ice guitar unique, aesthetically pleasing, but not overbuilt.

The WS is a wonderfully versatile guitar. Combining the best qualities of large and small-bodied guitars, this body shape is ideally suited for a variety of musical situations. A large, deep chamber gives the WS strong projection and rich bass. The narrow waist and tight upper bout encourage ringing treble, good balance and clear definition of individual notes. Overall, RainSong WS guitars are impeccably balanced. The shapely curves and light weight make this RainSong Black Ice Guitar comfortable to cradle or to stand with. The RainSong Black Ice guitar's extra-deep cutaway encourages playing up the fretboard.

The guitar's N2 neck is a result of an extensive, long-term collaboration with renowned artist Steve Miller and master luthier John Bolin. The neck design is based on a modified U profile that has been popular in guitars since the 1950s. While the N2 guitar neck has a more substantial feel than the original RainSong 6-string neck, it is ergonomically sound and actually results in better transfer of string vibration energy to the soundboard. The N2 neck features a truss rod that is accessible from the headstock. Because graphite does not warp or bow with changes in humidity and temperature, the purpose of a truss rod in this RainSong N2 neck is to allow you to customize the relief to suit your playing preferences.

Includes RainSong hardshell case.

At first glance the design on the design caught my attention. But not only does it look cool when light is reflecting on it but the sound to me is like a high quality Taylor acoustic. Who would of thought carbon fiber sounded so good? I think Rainsong is onto something here. With an Equal amount of bass and treble. With the ability to Customize the truss rod to your preference, built in tuner, great electronics so you can really sculpt your sound when plugged in (which still sounds good if not better)and i could play it in the rain if I really wanted. This guitar will last me over a life time. What more can i ask for? Although I'm not too stoked on the shark inlays, why sharks? kind of random but eh still kind of cool. Very pricy but worth it if you have the money.

  • Rainsong Black Ice Series BI-WS1000N2 Graphite Acoustic-Electric Guitar

As reviewed by Robert Fullick on 11/28/2011

I bought this guitar online, which is a bit of a nerve wracking experience, but Guitar Center did a perfect job. They called the next day to verify all the information was correct, shipped the guitar in a box with insane amounts of bubble wrap, and the guitar arrived in six days, including the weekend. So good job GC. My other guitar is a Martin Dreadnaught. I bought the Rainsong because I travel, sometimes in conditions in which the Martin wouldn't last. My primary comparison will be my Martin. Looks: It looks awesome. Black with the carbon fiber forming a beautiful pattern, the mother of pearl looks gorgeous, full shape and curves. I love the way it looks. Feel: I like the feel more than my Martin. The main reason is that the neck is somewhat thicker, making it easier for my big hands and long fingers to move around. Sound: For me, this is the main requirement in buying a guitar. The sound is really really good. Not quite as good as my Martin, but better than others I've demoed in the price range. It resonates with a full, powerful sound, but has a bit of a colder feel. Still, the sound across the entire board is excellent. Reliability: Since the sound met my expectations, this is the main reason I bought it. The Rainsong is a tank. Solid, impervious to heat, cold, sunlight, or moisture. I never worry when taking my Rainsong with me. I am 100% satisfied with my purchase and given the choice would buy the Rainsong again. I love the sound, look, durability, and Guitar Center did an outstanding job getting the guitar to me. Thank you!

  • Very Nice Guitar

Like others have said: Who knew you could get this sound out of carbon fiber. I was looking for something to take to the lake and not worry about ruining it. I happened across this at GC in Houston and was amazed at the sound quality. I thought I would be buying a Taylor GS Mini (which I did buy later) but this was the perfect fit for the boat/beach or wherever you have concerns about temperature and humidity. Glad to have an alternative to taking my high end instruments out into the weather.
