  I picked up a Headbone not to long ago to expand rig and tonal landscape. I didn't want to run 2 heads into a stereo 4x12 cab because they never seemed to pack the same punch as the full 4x12 did. And the Headbone gave me that option. They make 3 versions of this, the VT which is for (2) tube heads, the SS for (2) solid state heads, and this the VS, which you need when switching from solid state to tube and back. It is important that you use the correct switcher for your application as these cannot be interchanged. These units take a lot of cables for their connections, 1 instrument cable coming from your guitar/pedalboard, 2 instrument cables going to the 2 amps, 2 speaker cables running from the speaker outs on your amp back to the unit, and 1 more speaker cable to go from the untit to the speaker cabinet your using. However you can use fairly short cables 3-5 feet to make most of these connections, because it also has a 1/4" input for a remote switch. Any latching switch will work. The cons: there is a slight delay when switching where your signal is muted. This can be a bummer when trying to make a seemless switch mid song. it's not a very long delay, less than a full second, but enough that you can hear it. The other con is that if you want to run effects like delays and reverbs through you amps effects loop, you MUST BE SURE to have them fully muted and stopped before switching heads. ANY and i mean ANY residual echo, delay, reverb still being sent to the head that is on standby can and most likely will cause serious damage to your head and to the Headbone. Once again this only applys to effects being used through the amp's FX LOOP. That being said, this unit works safest and best when you either, use the same head for you entire song, and then if you need a different head for the next song, switch over between songs and/or use all your delay/reverb/echo type effects between your guitar and the headbone.
