I deliberated quite a bit over my throne purchase and I sure am glad I sprung for this Roc N Soc Original Saddle Trone. It's solid, comfortable, and reasonably priced for the excellent quality you get. The seat is just soft enough to be comfy, but firm enough for support. The seat shape minimizes leg restriction, and there's definitely something inherently comfortable about that tractor seat shape - heck, they used to make them out of solid metal and farmers still sat on them all day. In fact its so comfy, it feels less like sitting on a stool and more like sitting on someone else's butt. Funny image but its true. The hardware is good, easy adjustment and a sturdy lock nut. I am 5'6" and I have it adjusted in the bottom half of the height range, I am sure it would be good for someone moderately shorter or significantly taller than me. This seat has threaded holes in the bottom so you can add the backrest later if you want (I was planning to, but the seat is comfy enough without it, so I didn't). The velvety top material has good traction and sweat dissipation. When shopping for this one, I also liked the Pork Pies, but I found them to be a little too cushy and, although many of their designs are fun, they're a little cheezy for my taste. This RocNSoc has a simple classic look. All in all this is a sweet seat.

This throne's saddle design and soft padding makes it extremely comfortable and simply puts my legs in a "playing" mood. The manual design is not too good though. The throne never stays in one position and it will have a tendency to loosen and start turning up or down when you get off and on it. I find myself having to adjust again and again all the time. The rubber feet on the throne also lack durability. 2 of the feet have ripped and broken off my throne after owning it for about 9 months. To sum it up, it has a nice feel for your butt, but the other parts of it could be improved. I advise you check out the air lift design of this. Do I regret buying this throne? No, but I would buy something similar to this that fixes the above problems.

Your butt will thank you!

Comments about ROC-N-SOC Original Saddle Drum Throne:

I have been the proud owner of this throne for over 2 years and I must say it has got to be one of the best purchases or my drumming career. The seat its self is very soft and comfortable and the saddle style gives your legs support but freedom to move at the same time. This throne is worth every penny.

Like sitting on a cloud

By stevo30

from montreal, QC

Comments about ROC-N-SOC Original Saddle Drum Throne:

Those who play many hours a week know how important it is to be comfy in your throne. Bad support leads to discomfort, which can lead to serious physical problems. This throne is so comfy and supportive. The seat itself is very solid, yet not rock hard like some thrones can be. The stand is probably the strongest I've ever seen on a throne. This thing can withstand a nuclear blast. I also have to re-agjust it many times when I break down my kit, and the clamps/hardware hold up fine to that.

By surferidiot

Comments about ROC-N-SOC Original Saddle Drum Throne:

I the first time i sat down on this seat, I thought "Oh man, this is probably the most comfortable seat I've ever used." I then bought the seat and I've been using it ever since. Everyone that sits on it has the same reaction that I had and all want it. If your looking for a great seat, look no further. This is the one. BUY THIS SEAT!!!

Amazingly comfortable, but does have some slight flaws

By Elton A

from Vancouver, WA

Comments about ROC-N-SOC Original Saddle Drum Throne:

As everyone else has stated, it is amazingly comfortable... I can play for much longer than before without getting the butt fatigue and leg numbness. I wouldn't get anything else! Though, let me express a few concerns and the reason for only a 4 star rating... This has to do with the spindle screw and nut. Maybe I'm a dork but, I haven't quite figured out how to keep the seat adjustment from staying in one spot. When I received my roc-n-soc throne, it didn't come with a user manual. So, I wasn't sure how the screw adjustment worked. I ended up going to GC to ask the drum salesman to explain to me the workings of the seat adjustment. So, I learned how to do it and I get it... but, the wingnut under the seat keeps loosening up and the seat level does not always stay put. So, that's my frustration... Though, in the big scheme of things... this is a minor detail. The throne is very well constructed and you just can't beat the comfort of it. I endorse this product to the fullest!

Gigs would be tougher without it

By L.S.

from Rogers, MN

Comments about ROC-N-SOC Original Saddle Drum Throne:

I now have two of these thrones. One with my gig set and one with my studio set. I like a high throne and these turn up high and remain sturdy. You can't beat the comfort to help you make it through a 4 or 5 set night. Add the backrest if you want the ultimate.

Best Throne Ever

By Kip

from KCMO

Comments about ROC-N-SOC Original Saddle Drum Throne:

I'm gonna make this short and sweet. This throne is simply the best you can buy. It's really comfortable, built like a tank, and in comparison to other thrones of it's quality it is cheap(sort of). Buy it and you won't be disappointed.
