  • Not for 5/6-string Bassists or Drop-C Guitars

As reviewed by JohnnyB on 3/2/2010

Had this tuner for a little over a year now and it has served me well, but it certainly has problems with the lows. The display is very decent, but it doesn't pick up the frequencies of the fifth/sixth string on 5/6-string basses, and just this past weekend my bandmate couldn't get it to register his guitar's sixth string which he had in drop-C. I'd recommend a cheaper Korg with less features or a more expensive Boss tuner.

  • not thrilled

As reviewed by Robert on 9/24/2009

I used the Q12E and found it to be adequate, though not the most user friendly tuner I've ever had. The price/features is what lured me away from brands that I trusted. It served its purpose for about 8 or 9 months and then I turned it on to tune up before a gig and it had a meltdown. I replaced it with another more reputable brand.

  • Great Low-budget Tuner

As reviewed by ALL on 9/12/2006

Everyone needs to tune their axe, whether it's a banjo, a bass, a harp or that one thing a lot of people seem to be playing today. For the musician on a budget, this is an easy place to cut costs, but if you're just getting started on this whole "music" thing, this definitely isn't one place to skimp on and grab a pitch pipe or just hope you'll be able to tune it by ear. Even if you're an experienced musician who just needs a decent, cheaper, and surprisingly durable tuner, this one's the way to go. I've tried it under a thousand different conditions, including tuning a guitar while my friend was jamming 10 ft. away. It's worked spectacularly for acoustic, bass and even for voice. I've dropped it more times than should be legally allowed and it's held together perfectly anyway. I'd highly recommend to anyone who plays any instrument other than drums.
