I've heard QSC amps in several hi fidelity systems so when I needed a new amp I bought an RMX 850. The amp is used below 1600 to drive the woofers of a pair of 1961 Altec 605A Duplexes. The resulting sound has excellent well defined bass, realistic vocal tonality and wide imaging with plenty of depth. The only drawback is the fan noise but as that noise isn't coming through the system it's easy for your mind to filter it out at low volumes. Given the high sensitivity of the 605s and the intended use I doubt the amp ever puts out more than a couple of watts, the thing should last forever. One can spend a great deal more money on "hi-fi" amps and not get as good a sound. I need to get another one for the PA in my music room.
We have a couple of them in our system driving a combination of EV's and various other speakers in and around the sanctuary and they have never failed. Very reliable. Sunday service often has lots of music. Some times it's the choir, a New Orleans jazz band, prerecorded music, piano, quintets, quartets, it doesn't seem to matter. This amp handles it flawlessly.
The QSC RMX 850 will be able to handle most speakers. The sound it pumps out is very good, better than some Crown Amplifiers I have used. For an average user, this amp will be very dependable. It rarely heats up, which is always good to know.
The QSC RMX 850 is a sturdy, well-built amp that can perform. It carries with it QSC quality and reliability. After replacing my behringer amp with this one, I could see why most of my friends recommend QSC. The sound is clear, very low distortion, very low noise, and it doesn't heat up very much. This is a great amp for basic to medium needs, whether you're using it to power monitors, cabs, or even a sub, you won't be disappointed.
