Building on the success of QSC's K Series, the 2-way KW122, like the rest of the KW Series, represents QSC's next evolutionary step in wood enclosure loudspeakers. The system engineers created the KW Series to feature all the groundbreaking electronic attributes of QSC's popular K Series while at the same time designing a product that is both smaller and significantly lighter than previous wood enclosure models.
Like it's K series predecessors, the QSC KW122 features a QSC designed, 1000W (2 x 500) Class D power module. It is also fitted with the identical high-output 1.75" HF device and 12" cone transducer of the same high-quality design.
Defined Coverage Area
The QSC KW122 speaker also comes with Directivity Matched Transition (DMT) technology which provides matched LF and HF coverage across the entire listening area, eliminating unnatural "dead" or "hot" frequency zones.
Extensive signal processing is employed throughout, providing levels of sonic clarity and total output that defy all expectations for a product in this category:
•Intrinsic Correction: first featured in QSC's high-end line array products, it maps 65-75 spatially-averaged measurements to IIR and FIR filters that actively adjust time, frequency, and amplitude response to a maximally flat bandpass target. The result is an active speaker that behaves equally well across the entire sound field
•DEEP and excursion limiting allow for extended low-frequency response by actively managing low-frequency transients without degradation of the underlying signal or adjacent frequencies
•GuardRail protection, first introduced on our GX Series amplifiers protects both the amplifier module and your performance from unnatural and destructive clipping
The QSC KW122 loudspeaker, like all the KW Series speakers, features a four-position mic / line gain switch that lets you connect to a wide variety of devices. Combo XLR and 1/4" TRS inputs accept both mic and line level input while a set of RCA phono inputs allow additional connectivity to portable MP3 players, CD players and line-level mixers. Up to three audio sources can be mixed internally and summed to a balanced output for daisy-chaining of multiple units. The QSC speaker also provides separate direct outputs on each channel for additional output flexibility.
Onboard switches provide preset EQ settings. The HF setting can be set to VOCAL BOOST for additional presence in the critical mid-frequency area or FLAT for accurate reproduction of the incoming signal. The LF switch can be set to NORM, DEEP for additional bass extension, or EXT SUB for use with an external subwoofer. The rear panel LED switch can be set to POWER, illuminating the front-mounted LED when the unit is powered on, OFF for applications where it is not desirable to illuminate the front LED, or LIMIT which indicates to the system operator that the clip limiter circuit has been engaged during operation.
The QSC KW122 active speaker features a unique Tilt-Direct pole cup mounting system. A simple turn of the dial engages a 7.5 degree downward tilt of the speaker allowing acoustic energy to be kept on the audience and off reflective surfaces for applications where maximum coverage from a high-positioned speaker is desired.
Remote gain control capability is offered via a potentiometer (not included) connected to the onboard Phoenix-Style connector. In an installed application, multiple QSC KW Series speakers can be daisy-chained for total gain control from a single remote pot. Auto-standby mode is engaged after 5 minutes of inactivity.
The QSC KW122 speaker, like all its KW Series brethren, is designed to withstand the rigors of professional use. Advanced construction processes, premium-grade Baltic birch cabinetry, ergonomic, cast aluminum handles, and a highly protective steel grille provide for ease of transport and long-term durability. Integrated M10 suspension points allow for flown applications.

The QSC KW122 is one of the best sounding speakers on the market. The K12's are awesome too but these speakers have a lot more headroom and sound "richer". I would highly suggest them for just about any situation. I used them at a wedding this weekend and played to a crowd of 220 with no subs. They were plenty loud and had tons of headroom left. Even with a two way design the mids come out punchy and clean. You can hear every instrument and vocals clearly and plenty of bass. I would expect to pay double for this type of quality. Oh and by the way, they are made in the USA.
If you're a singer and are searching for a monitor to best represent your voice, this is the one. While any monitor can be turned up and EQ'd so your voice cuts through the mix, this monitor delivers the elusive "sweet spot" for vocals. Don't make the mistake of buying a 3-way or a 15"... this 12" QSC provides rich sounding vocals with uncompromising sound quality. Dual channel inputs essentially provide a built in mixer with one channel providing a signal boost for mics - the perfect setup for a solo artist. The only minor knock I'll give it is the lack of a headphone out as with my Fishman Loudbox performer - but that's quite forgivable for all that it offers.
I recently purchased two QSC KW 122 and guys let me tell you these speakers rock!! I sold my JBL PRX 615 and upgraded to QSC, yes I said Upgraded! Dont get me wrong the JBL sounded great, but QSC KW takes them, theres not much difference in the weight factor either. JBL PRX just seemed to be a bit bulkier and hard to handle carrying them around. QSC KW are super loud/clear and I love that they go in Stand-By Mode after 5mins of inactivity, they kind of power down and as soon as you grab a mic or start playing they power-up in less than a second! Awesome!
I've been a big QSC fan since the day I heard the k12s. The difference in overall clarity is remarkable when you a/b these with other speakers. As a business owner that offers rehearsal and equipment rentals, I can tell you with certainty these speakers can take a lot of abuse. We recently bought all KW122s for our mains in our regular rooms along with k10 monitors. The KW122s are slightly bigger and feature birch cabinets, and the amp section is exactly like the k series. We also have the KW153s in our showcase rooms which are great if you need the extra coverage. The bottom line is, you can't go wrong with any of the k or kw series. The 6 year warranty says it all. I have dead Mackies all over the place, their high frequency drivers can't handle any stress. Switching to QSC was the smartest thing I've done, and absolutely worth the extra couple of hundred bucks. Take the time to demo them against any other brand you may be considering and you'll hear the difference.
Pros: Attractive Design, Easy to Mount, Easy To Setup, Good Power Output Best Uses: Basic Systems, DJ / Mixing, Home, Larger Rooms, Outdoors, Smaller Rooms Describe Yourself: Practical, Pro Audio / DJ, Technically Challenged Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend These speakers are very versatile. I bought these speakers after years of lugging around an amplifier for my speakers, now I have the convenience of both in one. I am able to play music via my IPod directly through the speakers while I continue to set up my main system. I used to play piano and now I can practice again by using this speaker as my amp. The speakers are very stylish, easy to transport and mount. The sound quality is outstanding and easily can fill a large room if needed.
Kind of on the expensive side, but does the job!
Excellent product. we used it and it toally rocks!!!
I bought a pair last year. To my surprise QSCs 12s were off the chain. The first time playing them my neighbor across the street said her window was rattling. These are must have, plus you get that 6 year warranty form QSC on the amps and the speaker. You cannot beat that. Thanks GC.
