Overview

The QSC GX5 Stereo Power Amplifier is ideal for professional entertainers who require maximum performance and portability on a limited budget. QSC designers, headed by Pat Quilter, have optimized output and appearance of the rackmountable GX5 while reducing raw material cost and weight. The GX5 power amplifier provides full performance for 500 watt (Program) speakers and supplies maximum possible power to 4 ohm and 8 ohm loads. Owners of popular 4 ohm loudspeakers (dual-woofer, two-way models and many subwoofers) will find the 700 watt (4 ohm) power of the GX5 an ideal match.

The GX5 power amp uses a Class H system, based on key elements of the PLX Series, almost doubling power in the same size and weight. QSC design expertise allows the output devices to shift from low-power to high-power rails in less than a millionth of a second, ensuring that the output power is always right where it needs to be without excess loss.

Features

Let me start by saying my GX5 has seen about everything you can imagine in its short 6 week out of the box life. I live in Georgia and the heat and the humidity here are often pushing the heat index to well over 100 degrees. I have done 3 outdoor gigs with this amp pushing a pair of JBL JRX 115's and one JRX 118s and it pushes them beautifully. The built in Crossover is really nice because splitting it out at 100 hz really has helped me push my mids/highs harder to provide enough sound for the outdoor gigs. My GX5 has even been run from a 35 dollar power inverter from a retail giant who shall remain nameless and provided music for a beach party i had the privilage of DJing. This is an all around great amp with very versitile inputs and outputs that make it possible for anyone not playing at 2 ohms or bridging channels to have a great sound at a not so discouraging price. QSC has been great for me thus far and i am just about convinced that there no other power amp company that is worth my time. Thanks QSC

Just Great. :)

By Joe Jr.

from Southern California.

Comments about QSC GX5 Stereo Power Amplifier:

At this price, no amp can deliver 500w at 8ohms. Amazingly, QSC also knows how to build quality amps at budget prices! Perfect for running small mains or monitors. Couldn't be happier with the purchase.

Killer for 400 bucks!

By Tom S

from Midwest

Comments about QSC GX5 Stereo Power Amplifier:

We replaced our 3 racks of RMX amps with newer, lighter QSC models in an attempt to lighten our rig and save our aging backs. One GX5 replaced 2 RMX850s that were powering 3 HF drivers per side for a 5.33 ohm load/channel. Cleaner top end, less space & weight, and this little amp seems to have more power than the 2 850s did. I have yet to see a clip light, even on outdoor shows. Runs nice and cool too. I have even heard this amp in a home audio setting and it sounded great! With a 6 yr warranty, you can hardly go wrong!

Powerful Amp

By DJ E.Q.

from San Antonio TX

Comments about QSC GX5 Stereo Power Amplifier:

This amp is off the chain!! You might think I'm crazy, but I use it to pump 2 subs (18" Eminence Sigma Pros). This amp pounds them without any clipping. I tried it on a set of E Quakes, but I needed a little more juice. Overall, this is an excellent and powerful amp for the budget DJ.

Incredible Value

By John

from Arroyo Grande, Ca

Comments about QSC GX5 Stereo Power Amplifier:

The best deal out there. Used in a studio at way lower volumes so I trimmed the fan quieter. The thing does not even get hot at moderate volume. Tight bass with great definition accross the wide bandwidth. Can you say extreme VALUE!

Don't Worry About Budget!

By Jeff

from Jensen Beach, Florida

Comments about QSC GX5 Stereo Power Amplifier:

Even if your budget isn't an issue, these are still worth looking into. I've been in music for more years than I care to admit. I had some older model amps that I wanted to change out. Powered speakers were out of my price range. I really looked into all the amps that were out there. I've always been a QSC fan but I had to look into my other options. For a gigging band with a set of mains and a set of subs, these are all you need. I've done indoor and out door events with these. I run two 15" 2 way mains and two 18" subs. I use a DBX drive rack PA (awesome piece of equipment, if you take the time to learn how to use it), then go directly to two BBE 882i Sonic Maximizers. One for the mains and one for the subs. I ran these from 9am to 4pm yesterday. Five bands and a bunch of prerecorded music. I took the time to set my Drive Rack up to maximize my output when I bought these. I never clipped and never had an issue with over heating. These amps worked flawlessly all day. The power they produce for even an outdoor event was to be admired. Especially for the cost! No problems at all. If you are interested in these, go to the QSC website. Review the info and use the online speaker and amp tools thats there. It sets you up. There is a GX7 thats coming out in 2011 for the 725 watt group. If it's anything like the GX3 & GX5, no one will be able to complain. I know I can't. I love these amps.
