Warranty
MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY
Warranty Statement - Pure Sound Percussion snare wires are guaranteed against manufacture's defects for six months the date of original purchase. There is no unconditional guarantee against breakage since snare wires are constantly vibrating against the snare head, therefore it is impossible to accurately predict their live expectancy. In order to get the maximum usage out your Pure Sound snare wires, please refer to the information on proper mounting techniques.

SIX MONTH GUIDE LINE
Snare which have broke within six months from the date of original purchase may be returned for examination and possible replacement under warranty. If our examination deems that the snare wire is defective, a replacement will be issued at no charge, providing that the snare wire shows no sign of mistreatment or improper use. Our experts here at the factory try to be more than fair in making evaluations. The examination process takes approximately two weeks from the receipt of snare wires. Replacement snare wires will be shipped as soon as they become available from our inventory.

RETURNED SNARE WIRES TO SENDER
All snare wires which do not meet the warranty guideline will be returned directly to the sender. Snare wires that have been abused, i.e.: not mounted evenly, dropped, uneven mounting hole wear, excessive force used, kinked, etc., and snare wires that are over six months old, will be returned. Snare wires that have been previously replaced, used in lease program, or purchased second-hand, are excluded from this warranty statement. All returns must be accompanied by: 1) A Return Authorization (RA) Number issued by contacting the Pure Sound Percussion Company, and 2) A photocopy of the original numbered and dated sale on store letter head, in order to be considered for replacement. All shipping charges are the responsibility of the sender. Before the return of any Pure Sound product, please contact:

I have used other Puresound Wires (Blasters and Equalizers) and have to say that of the 3 I own, these would be my least favorite. However, the Custom Pros are a great option to start with if you're in the market for finding a new sound for your snare.

The straps are what really make this product unique. They're not as easy to swap out as I thought, but this could be because I am still relatively new to the product. Either way, the straps are awesome and almost justify the purchase in and of themselves! It's nice that they included an extra clip just in case one breaks from heavy usage.

As for the sound, I was unimpressed. There is definite improvement and some added brightness from the brass wires, but I think these are overpriced for the sound. There is some added sensitivity as well. However, I don't think the sound and sensitivity of these particular wires alone justify the price. I would venture to say that most people would hardly notice the difference between these wires and the stock ones that come on a decent snare ($250+).

What people WILL notice is the snare buzz reduction. Keep in mind that you cannot get rid of all snare buzz! These do the job of reducing it though!

BOTTOM LINE-
I give the Custom Pro's a 3.5 star rating. I would have to recommend Equalizers over the Custom Pros and Blasters. The Equalizers are much more crisp and have even less snare buzz. I also feel that because of the added crisp, the Equalizers are more sensitive and liven up your snare a bit more overall. The Equalizers are also more versatile, as Blasters are generally for louder volumes. However, definitely give the Custom Pros a try. At least you will have the convenient straps that will work for just about any other wire you try!

The brass snare wires are very nice - they improved the sound on my 6x14 maple drum, adding a slightly brighter sound to the warmth of the wood.

But the cotter pin attachment is a poor design - it nearly ruined my last gig as the snares came off while playing. If the strap isn't precisely lined up in the middle of the cotter pin, the pin will slip right through the slot opening! It won't slip through right away, either. It takes about half a song for that to occur, just as you're starting your first set!

Even if you think you have it aligned, the cotter pin could get slightly nudged -- an eighth of an inch is all it takes -- and the snares fail.

Now I need to go back and attach regular mylar straps on the two snare drums I use these on.

Puresound needs to take this one back to R&D and come up with something better...

Comments about Puresound Custom Pro Series Brass Snare Wires:

I bought a 13" 24 strand for a ocdp 13x7 maple ash snare. I heard the difference right away. It sounded brighter and crisper than normal snares. Other puresound snares sound just like any other good snare. But they are built very well and that's what you are paying for. I have put puresound snares on all of my snares except my ludwig 13x6 supralite snare. I kept the snares on that one because it sounded great. I only changed the head. I have a ludwig brick, and a ludwig supraphonic 70s snare and I put a 30 strand on them. My theory is the more snare strands the fuller sound you will get.

          • For snare wires...

Comments about Puresound Custom Pro Series Brass Snare Wires:

I bought these for my Gretsch hammered brass snare mostly for fun since It did already have pretty good stock snares. I figured I have a brass shell and i stumbled on these brass snare wires and it would be a good match. It certainly shouldn't make anything worse and I would at least have a little customization to my drum. I think it sounds a little warmer and mellower than the stock, I'm assuming, steel snares. It's a very subtle change unless your snare was on the cheaper side maybe with very light thin metal end-plates on the wires. Most intermediate and hopefully all high end snares should come with good hardware and parts. I don't think of it as much of an upgrade but I like them and the subtle tone change is cool. If anything I get a little more snare buzz, but I read that they are capable of being cranked up a bit without choking much and I have mine set up at a medium tension and have not tried to tighten them up too much. But the stronger buzz only really caught my attention at band practice when the guys hit a certain note together that really freaks out my snare, so if anything it just means they are more sensitive. The new advanced quick release system, is an absolute joke. The first day I tried them, inside of an hour or two, the pin that secures the fabric to the snare plates, had slipped through leaving one side hanging in the air. the other side was sort of twisted and not at all as centered as when i set it up. Its just not reliable and I quickly put the old trusty nylon, tape style, strap that came stock with my snare in place of the not quite there, innovation that came with these snares. The ruler style lines and numbers that are on the straps are absolutely genius and usable, but the quick release pins just cannot be trusted. I hope in the future they incorporate the ruler style strap into a standard non gimmicky regular strap, as i have put permanent marker lines on mine before for the exact reason. The snares themselves are very high quality.

Comments about Puresound Custom Pro Series Brass Snare Wires:

I'm not sure why PureSound markets these as "bright," but don't let that deter you. They don't seem any brighter to me than steel wires. What they certainly are is less harsh, and allow you to hear more of the drum and less of the snare buzz. For loudly amplified music you'll want to stick with steel, but for quieter music, and especially for jazz, the brass wires are great.
