I am a drummer and got this set for my Grandson. As I put it together I was amazed at the quality for the price paid. Realize that it is not a professional set of drums, and is made for kids. That being said, they are chromed nicely, no sharp edges. The lugs and bolts are threaded well. The shells are laminated wood, and finished very well. The stands and tom mounts have locks just like the larger sets. The bass legs are an octagon no slip design which keeps them in place. The hardware is pretty heavy for this size set. The snare drum has a functioning adjustable throw off that actually takes the snares away from the bottom head. The bass pedal and the hi-hat pedals are a little thin but are both chain drive. They could have made these pedals just a bit heavier without added cost. The bass drum beater is adjustable and four sided. It has a nice spring back feel. Included are a drum key and a pair of child size drumsticks. The threads don't strip out when tuning the drums. The finishing touches are pretty nice for the price. The drum heads are adequate for a start up set of drums. They are all one ply clear except for the front bass head of course. They will dent, but they tune well. It helps to muffle them a bit with an internal cloth band or tape. They seem to tune lower without a marching drum ring if you do. This would have been a straight 5 star review if not for the one weak spot that all child size drums have in common....The Cymbals !The cymbals are paper thin and sound like a pie tin being hit. The hi-hat cymbals don't close together properly right out of the box. After just a few strikes, the crash is pretty bent up. If they would make them just 1/32" thicker they could solve this problem. With that being said, they are still DEFINITELY worth the money. It is a set that a child will be able to actually play for a few years to see if he or she has the interest to move up to a full size set. The cymbals and drum heads should be replaced as soon as enough interest is shown by your child. I would say it's best for ages 3 to 7 or 8. When their feet can reach the pedals of a full size set....it's time to move on !

The drums themselves are great for the price, but the cymbals are pretty cheap. I see them breaking soon.

Comments about Pulse 5-Piece Junior Drum Set:

Over all, these little drums are rad! I got them on sale so 'BONUS'! Unfortunately, while putting them together both the joints on the Tom mounts broke while tightening. The cast metal used to make the knuckle in the hardware is very thin and the bull pulled through, cracking the center out of the joint. Though unfortunate it was easily fixed by using a couple washers. All in all, everything is like a real drum set just scaled down and I am stoked! Can't wait to hear my kid play away! I believe it will be a great starter set that can be improved upon easily as a child improves

      NOT a toy, Amazing value

Comments about Pulse 5-Piece Junior Drum Set:

First off, to be honest, the cymbals sound horrible compared to real cymbals. The kick pedal is okay for a child to start on. Hi-hat stand isn't that great, but also okay for a child to start on. Highly recommend using different hardware especially if you use larger heavier cymbals. The hardware is sturdy metal, but lightweight. Serious musicians will want to use different cymbals, hardware, and kick pedal. For the price however, the shell pack is amazing as is.

HOWEVER, the actual drums themselves, sound incredible! They are VERY REAL DRUMS, not at all a toy set. Tune them properly, toss a towel in the kick, and you're golden. They have their own unique tone because they are smaller, and are perfect for an acoustic style or turned down set. You can really lay into them and keep the volume controlled if you use brushes, or go all out and get loud with actual sticks. Great for trios/smaller bands, when writing, or whenever playing at a lower volume without sacrificing tone is ideal (like recording). I have a trio and we use this kit in my living room all the time with some small amps, and we absolutely love it. They have a very small footprint so the whole kit can easily fit into an apartment that's tight for space, and the whole kit will fit inside of a small trunk or on a backseat.

Came with all the parts, but everything needs to be assembled. 5 stars for tone and craftsmanship of the actual drums alone. One of those speed drum keys would help a ton with putting it together.

Bought these for Christmas for my 6yr old son. He loves them! They were perfect for him. The only downfall and the reason I didn't give a 5-star rating was the lack of directions but I had a friend who is in a band and he helped me put them together. I'm sure you could also Youtube directions. They really were not that hard to put together once I saw him do it. Great product for the price!

Comments about Pulse 5-Piece Junior Drum Set:

I got this kit for my 8 year old daughter. She had been playing on a few of my sets but it was obvious while watching her that the setup was just too high. I found this set while browsing and took a shot.

We were not disappointed at all. It's perfectly sized for her and her siblings (6 and 10). They look incredible (wine red). Setup was easy, but take note that there are no instructions. Only things requiring assembly were the high-hat stand and putting the heads on the bass and floor tom. Shouldn't take more than an hour. Look at zoomed in pics online if you want to know where the hardware goes.

A little time tuning and the toms sound great. The snare could use a heavier head, but works none the less. Put a bath towel in the bass before you install the heads to make sure you get a nice thud with no ringing.

The cymbals will never win any accolades, but are great to start. I would rather she learns how to properly hit these cymbals than something more expensive. My recommendation would be to get a starter pack of Zildjians (or whatever brand you prefer) after your kid shows committed interest in playing.

I got it for two hundred and think it was well worth it. Seeing my daugther jump on her kit and start wailing is proof enough for me that it's a good set.

                Enjoy.
