The Protechtor Classic Series Tom Case is made with a special rotational molding process, which gives added strength and durability to case corners. It also provides water resistance that non-roto molded cases can't match. This Gator case comes with an inner foam-lining and XL's limited lifetime warranty against cracking.
These cases are legit - worth the money. PROS: stack and nest easy, lightweight but sturdy. I expect to get many years out of these cases. CONS: I had to return two tom cases and order larger ones. There are no allowances made for hardware. My 16"x16" floor tom wouldn't fit inside the 16"x16" case - the leg brackets on the tom were too big (a Gretsch Renown kit). For my rack tom, a 10"x12", I ultimately had to buy a 15"x13" case to ensure the rack mount would fit. I had no problems with my bass drum, a virgin shell, or the snare. I ordered five cases. The exterior on all of the cases was slightly scufffed, however in various places and not too bad. I played a show the same day I got them, and by the time I got the cases home the scuffs fit right in with regular road rash. The bass drum case had two small indentions, where shallow pilot holes were started for one of the carrying handles. I think I'm the only one who'll ever notice. One of the tom case straps has a slight rip in the nylon, but it still functions. I doubt there will be any issues, and I think the lifetime warranty would cover it regardless. Although I'm slightly disappointed with the quality control, I love these cases and have no regrets.
