Comments about Proline PLSPK2 Speaker Stand Set w/ Bag:

I purchased these stands a week ago after using less expensive Pro Line stands for over 3 years. There are two issues I have with the new stands. I am using Mackie Thump speakers (15 inch) and the center
pole is very wobbly under the weight of the speaker (40 lbs. approx.). I raised the center post up a few notches, put the safety pin in, lifted up my speaker and set it down on the center pole. When the gig was over and it was time to take down the speaker, I wanted to take the safety pin out and gently lower the center pole to make it easier for me to remove the speaker. The 2nd is more serious issue I have with the stands is that the safety pin cannot be removed as long as the speaker is still sitting on the center post. In order to take the speaker down, I had to get up on a chair and lift the 40 lbs. speaker up off the center post. This is a very dangerous way to remove speakers. I could have seriously injured myself. I called Pro Line today to advise them of this issue and they seemed to be completely in the dark about this functionality problem.

These stands do what they were made for. The clamps are more efficient than the screw type knobs that are on other stands. I think the clamps also help to prevent over tightening,

Comments about Proline PLSPK2 Speaker Stand Set w/ Bag:

Have used these in rehearsal space and needed to bring to a gig yesterday. Really appreciate the low weight, the carrying case. Tubes are strong. The stand will be fine with anything 12" or less. Would not trust these with a 15". During packing and unpacking, the negative is the hardware for the triple leg slide; it is not entirely robust, and the three arms that extend to the legs are themselves kind of thin. They are attached by what appear to be very thin bolts on both ends. The point where the arms and leg meet are in danger of gelting twisted if you pull or push hard.. There is no nylon bushing between leg and arm, Best to work slowly and coax each leg in or out while moving the slide.. It's also not entirely clear as to where to stop when opening. If you keep going, the legs will open very wide and leave not much length of support for the center tube. This might have been the mfr's design choice, but I'd prefer to see the tree form something closer to a right triangle (45 degrees) where it meets the pole. For a small investment, I could see drilling out those bolt holes & replacing the bolts with a beefier shoulder screw, add a nylon washer, and this will significantly improve the sliding. I will still recommend d these with the caveat that you be careful.. They're OK. Especially for the price.

Light weight and has a great textured finish. Nearly half the weight of my old speaker stands.

Comments about Proline PLSPK2 Speaker Stand Set w/ Bag:

I purchased this set just under a year ago, to cut down on the weight I was carrying in and out of a weekly open-mike/jam I host. They are super light and hold whatever speakers we have placed on them with no difficulty or negative issues at all. None of our speaker systems come anywhere near the stated capacity of the stands, but our large performance space allows us to extend the legs as much as might be needed for stabilization of a heavier pair. The thing that usually breaks or wears out on speaker stands is the tightening apparatus. The cam/lever design of this set prevents you from having to seriously crank down on a threaded connection. It has a nut and bolt which can loosen or tighten the connections, but once you set it where it needs to be, the levers allow you to get into and out of an optimal grip effortlessly, and I think this has added to the useful life of the product. The bag isn't of any extreme quality, but it serves the purpose, and has enough space left for a couple of mike stands. If I needed another set of stands, I wouldn't hesitate to get these again.

Comments about Proline PLSPK2 Speaker Stand Set w/ Bag:

I bought these thinking they'd be up to snuff judging by the description. I actually think they sent me the wrong ones because my original order was out of stock. Which seems to be the case with many items on this site these day. Which you don't find out until they email you after the fact. Anyhow, these things aren't meant for speakers weighing more that 75lbs. Last I checked they are rated for at least 120 or 150. I can't remember and the description is now missing. Anything heavier and the seem as though they'd tip with a light breeze. The aluminum is also a poor choice of materials. I tried to remove one of my speakers and had to force it off by tipping the thing on its side because it instantly put a dent in the stand. Returning them is more of hassle than it's worth. So they'll just sit in my studio for my pair of passive speakers.
