The product was not hard to assemble with the two tools provided, it took about 20 minutes. Right now I have five guitars in the stand: one acoustic, one archtop, and three solid bodies. There is space for all the guitars to rest without touching and the stand is strong enough for home or stage use. It is not easily knocked over and I can feel confident that the guitars are in a safe place. For the money, I think it is a good investment.

Who does not hate having single guitar stands strung out all over the stage or wherever. I bought some 3 guitar stands but with different types of guitars (acoustic/electric/dobro/banjo) the headstocks banged together no matter how I adjusted the things. Next, I bought 2 guitar stands but found that it was really easy to knock the stand over when removing one of the guitars. Last I bought a 5 guitar stand like the one sold here. Cheap is not really the word. I had to bang, push, bend, and curse to get it together. Guess what, it worls well for 3 (three ) guitars. As for 5 (five), that will work if you don't mind the guitars banging together in a much too narrow stand. I could buy a seven guitar stand so that I gould get,MABYE, 5 in the stand...NAH! There has to be a solution short of MEGA BUCKS!!!

Works great

By Burst59

Comments about Proline PLMS5 5-Guitar Folding Stand:

Gee I guess I got the only perfect one because mine works great. Not a single bad screw or misaligned hole. I put it together in 20 min without a problem. Good price as well at my local GC. It's good enough to hold my $5,000 Les Paul as well as 4 more in my working collection.

Good Idea, Bad Design

By Evan

from Rhode Island

Comments about Proline PLMS5 5-Guitar Folding Stand:

The design was good, but like what everyone said, I had to do a lot of bending, hammering, and squeezing, but still I couldn't get the two screws that go on the top of the tree that goes into the two side arms. It just wouldn't line up, but even with out them it holds very nice and it's pretty solid. I have 3 electric that I mainly use so I put my three electrics in there with a space between each so they all don't clatter together. It's good for 3 guitars but not 5. Also, I had to give it 4 stars because the holes just didn't line up. It would much better with a few fixes with the drill holes.

Au Contraire

By Tebo

from Upstate, New York

Comments about Proline PLMS5 5-Guitar Folding Stand:

I purchased this stand over a year ago and found it easy enough to assemble. If you have to force it, you're not putting it together right, right? Not only does it hold two basses, two electric guitars and an acoustic guitar securely, but when I did "fan" them, I was able to fit a sixth guitar (another solid body electric) onto the stand, keeping everything safe and accessible whenever I found the need to grab an instrument and bang out a tune. Storing compactly and deploying easily and solidly, I would recommend this stand (and its relatives) to anyone with multiple instuments and a desire to play on a whim, or simply display thier prize axes.

Not total junk

By Justin Arnold

from Manor, Tx

Comments about Proline PLMS5 5-Guitar Folding Stand:

I bought mine a month ago and I do agree with the other review. I did have some trouble putting it together but with a little bending I was able to get it together. I only had one screw hole that didnt line up properly hense the bending. Once it was together though, it was solid. Ive slid this thing around on the carpet loaded with guitars and it held together great. I would consider buying another one, but only if I couldnt find a better one.

Works fine

By Don

from Phoenix, AZ

Comments about Proline PLMS5 5-Guitar Folding Stand:

I've previously owned one and now I just purchased another. Assembly was cake, and included the wrenches to do it (sorta like Ikea). The thing works as advertised. I would say the guitars are pretty close when they are on there, but if you take a moment to carefully set one in the rack and then grab the other, you'll be fine. I think the other reviews are making a bigger deal out of it. If you need a decent stand for multiple guitars, get this.

Solid Stand, Albeit A Bit Awkward to Setup

By coandcam08

from Muncie, IN

Comments about Proline PLMS5 5-Guitar Folding Stand:

The rumors you have heard have come true in my case. You do have to do a bit of bending of the metal in order to properly put it together. But, once that hassle is over, you have yourself a rock-solid stand that does what it says. Not recommended if you own nothing but acoustic guitars or are extremely protective of your equipment, however, because if you don't set a guitar down quite right, it will bump into another one fairly easily.

Stand functional, but bad quality control and assembly instructions

By Rob B.

from Redmond, WA

Comments about Proline PLMS5 5-Guitar Folding Stand:

Purchased this stand because my current 3 way stand holding guitars in a triangle wasn't working well. This stand is well padded, can fold down and is certainly functional for most guitars. I'm not sure how the V or star type guitars would do with it, but I don't own one to check that. Traditional guitar designs are fine. I wish it has some sort of device to insure the guitars could stay in (like rubber across the "slot" for each opening. However, that's really not needed as you can tilt guitars such that gravity keeps them in. Would just save space for basses with long necks as I could keep them more vertical. Spacing means that acoustic guitars will have to go on the ends if they are very deep. My complaint is about assembly. The pictures make it more complex then it needs to be. They just needed one picture with the screws numbered pointing to the holes and enough detail so you could tell the orientation of different parts. They give 4 pictures, but the large one doesn't have enough detail to be useful for assembly. The smaller pictures are too close a view for me to understand what I'm looking at. I had to turn parts around a few times to get it right. And on top of that, it there was one part that simply didn't fit with two others. I had to drill two holes larger as they were off so much that I could not get the bolts through to connect the parts. Once I did that, it was fine. On the plus side, they do give you an alan head and wrench of sorts so you don't need any other tools (assuming the holes are right)

Great Product, Great Design

By Carl

from memphis Tn

Comments about Proline PLMS5 5-Guitar Folding Stand:

Took about 20 min. to put together (don't fully tighten screws until complete) no wobbles, very solid. The killer thing is the stand with 3 basses and 2 guitars takes up so little space my wife suggested I get one more for the other guitars and I mistakenly blurted out two more ought to do it for now... well the cats out of the bag and I'm in the dog house but it's still a great product and the price is right, which is a good thing.

DONT LISTEN TO THESE NEGATIVE COMMENTS!

By Ryan McMahon

from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania

Comments about Proline PLMS5 5-Guitar Folding Stand:

I had this bought for me over 3 years ago. Its had weight on it since the first day and never once fell or wobbled unless if you physically pushed it. I have 4 electric and 1 acoustic on it. If you put the guitars on the way left of each individual stand section they all fit. The only thing bad about this, is that if you have more than oue acoustic it can get really crammed but thats life right there. The only complaint that I have is after 3years of a tele being on it, the cushion wears down and is pushed like a sponge really, but no damage has come. I would encourage you to buy this. It may be hard to get together just take your time, its worth it!!

work well for electric guitars, tight fit if acoustic guitars are in it. assembly instructions could be better.
The front needs to be folded downwards slightly so that guitars are securely held in place.

Not sure what it is about these that makes them worth 70+ dollars. I could build one here out of stainless for this price, more stable and portable. After sending labor overseas they must make a killing on these stands, It is unfortunately the best option if you need something that works thats' affordable.

Comments about Proline PLMS5 5-Guitar Folding Stand:

Let me preface this by saying i ALWAYS read way too many reviews before i buy anything, and this one had a lot of bad ones raving about how hard it was to put together and how flimsy it was. Only 2 parts felt cheap to me, and that was the bottom cross bars, which are basically just soft foam, with hard foam underneath that you screw into. However, on the other hand, this means your guitars are literally resting on nothing but foam, and i have zero worries that my babies will be safe on this.

Now, as for assembly, i did it in 20 minutes with only the tools provided, which is a little wrench, and an allen key. If you can follow super basic instructions and have even a little common sense, this should be a no brainer. Assembled, it is smaller than i imagined, maybe 2.5 feet wide and 3 feet tall. But, you dont need any more than that. There's adequate space for all the guitars i put on it, which is currently only 4, being 3 Electrics and an acoustic.

Another note, im namely a bedroom player, meaning i dont frequently gig, and this fits snug into a corner of my room right next to my cab and head and it looks glorious. If yolu want a small, lightweight, easy to assemble stand to simply hold your guitars without worry, and dont for some reason require your stands to sexually gratify your instruments or rub them down with sensual oils while you're away, this stand will work perfect for you.
