I use this stand for a M-Audio Keystation 88es in my home studio ̴ۡ_it provides ample area for support of any full-size keyboard, and would certainly hold something many times heavier than my 88es. The double brace approach seems to add a lot of stability to this stand, and I'm extremely pleased with it. After seeing the reviews by gigging/touring musicians, I'm more than a bit wary of issues with the stand collapsing... Those thinking of traveling with this stand might do well to throw a dab of loctite on each supporting bolt, to help ensure nothing loosens up and causes a catastrophic issue. That possibility aside, this is a great stand.

BE VERY CAREFUL OF THIS PRODUCT !!! I play professionally, 3 to 4 nights a week...the bolts loosen up at the cross bracing, whigh makes the lock pin ineffective...on a gig just last night, I placed my Yamaha s 90 es on the stand...it collasped, and the round adjusting plate went right through the bottom of my s 90....which created it's own set of problems...remember, every time you open up this stand to set it up, you are also loosening up the bolts that hold it together...I think that since this is a guitar center product, they should pay for the damages...IF YOU VALUE YOUR KEYS, DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT!!!!!

Lightweight, portable, knockoverable

By monymon

Comments about Proline PL400 Double X-Braced Keyboard Stand:

Got this stand as a suport for the Motif ES8. If you have an aggressive live performing style, you may want to make sure this stand is tacked down. I nearly (but didn't) knocked it over on 3 occasions. Also, the rubber boots always fall off; buy some glue when you get this piece. Good price though!

Great for a pit

By Roy

from ID

Comments about Proline PL400 Double X-Braced Keyboard Stand:

This keyboard stand is great for a pit orchestra with limited space and the need to carry it around places frequently. I put cords through the double x bars to have a little more organization around and although it doesn't look appealing to the eye, has been a faithful stand to me. I think you'd like it. Great for a traveler.

Exactly what I was looking for

By Jeff Pinkerton

from Ashland, MA

Comments about Proline PL400 Double X-Braced Keyboard Stand:

I needed a solid stand for a Roland FP-7 - this is not a lightweight keyboard. On the ProLine 400, it's rock solid. It's as if the keyboard was fixed on a concrete block. Highly recommended.

stand collapsed

By Comfort

from Seattle, WA

Comments about Proline PL400 Double X-Braced Keyboard Stand:

On the second day of use of this stand, it collapsed while I was playing, dropping my 40 day old Korg M5088 to the ground, denting it slightly and shearing off the power adapter plug. Guitar center replaced the keyboard with a new one, and replaced the stand with a different model, no questions asked. Terrible stand, great service from Guitar Center. Another problem with the stand is that there is not enough legroom for sitting down use.

Not Bad at All

By J.Coleman

Comments about Proline PL400 Double X-Braced Keyboard Stand:

I really like the fact that the stand already comes pre assembled. All you have to do is set it to your desire and your ready to play away. I have been playing keyboard/piano for almost two decades and this is one of the best stands I have ever played on!!

PL400 Failure

By Chris Matthews

from Canyon, Tx

Comments about Proline PL400 Double X-Braced Keyboard Stand:

I have a two year old PL400 that just collapsed with my S90ES on it. The setup has never been moved out of my living room. The half round lock mechanism plate punched a slot through the particle board bottom of the S90ES when it collapsed, and now several of the keys above the damage are stuck partially down. Please don't buy this stand, even if you never gig with it....

Safty Hazzard

By flyinhawaiian

Comments about Proline PL400 Double X-Braced Keyboard Stand:

There's a design problem with the locking mechanism. It looks fine when theres no weight on it. Soon as you apply weight, the round plates (in the center of the stand) start to separate. This is dangerous because thats where the locking pin is.

Rock solid

By Gerald Gooderum

from Indy

Comments about Proline PL400 Double X-Braced Keyboard Stand:

I bought this stand after buying an 88 note weighted keyboard. My other stand was to wimpy. I am pleased with the stability and quick release set up. The only problem I have had after a year of playing gigs every weekend is the bolts fall out every now and then.

Comments about Proline PL400 Double X-Braced Keyboard Stand:

I use this stand to hold my Williams keyboard. I bought this type of stand in The Guitar Store and it required assembly. After two had bolts break off and the third was not stable I ordered this one which comes assembled. I recommend ordering the assembled one. I have no problems with it; it is sturdy and stable.

Very Sturdy with a Wide Base

    By Lyle Diefenthaler

    from Perrysburg, OH

Comments about Proline PL400 Double X-Braced Keyboard Stand:

The title says it all. This stand will not tip over. Of course, as with any portable stand, the keyboard just sits on top and could be knocked off with a big enough hit.

    Supports a lot of weight

    By M L

    from Dallas Texas

Comments about Proline PL400 Double X-Braced Keyboard Stand:

I am not using this for a keyboard stand, I'm using it for a mixer stand. To be exact, a Yamaha MG32 which is heavy. Probably heavier than a 88 key keyboard. I have NEVER in 5 years had a problem with this stand. It must be you people not locking it right because this thing is a tank. I'm about to buy start using this stand in a live situation for keyboards instead of the mixer. I'm actually planning on buying the "2nd tier" option so I can add a 2nd keyboard on top. It will have a Roland JW-50 on the bottom and a Roland DJ-70 on the top.

    ProLine 400 Stand with a Yamaha p-155

    By rich jaeger

    from Middletown ,De.

Comments about Proline PL400 Double X-Braced Keyboard Stand:

Just brought the Stand and Piano. Very sturdy Stand for use with Yamaha 155 piano. Consider it reasonable priced. A bit too high for me with this Piano, when stand is set at the lowest setting. So I checked on the net for the height standard for a Grand Piano. Seems the standard is 28.5 -28.3/4 to the top of the white keys depending on the manufacture and type piano (Grand or upright). This Stand set at the lowest setting with the 155 measures 30.5 inches. To the top of white key (2 inches higher) my arms are not at a right angle to the Keys, with my adjustable (Proline 1250) piano seat.So I recommend you checking the seating set-up with this stand and the Piano you will use in the store first.

    Collapsed Stand

    By David Dalton

    from Arlington, VA

Comments about Proline PL400 Double X-Braced Keyboard Stand:

I purchased this stand along with the Casio Privia PX 150 as a Christmas gift. The piano has been on the stand since approximately December 25, 2013 (it is currently March 20, 2014). About three weeks ago, the stand collapsed under the weight of the keyboard. Thankfully, the board was unharmed. This was sold to me as the "heavy-duty" stand, and while I understand it would not have stood up to touring, the stand had moved once within the home. To top that off, when the recipient of the gift attempted to return the item, s/he was told that the store could not process the return as it was outside of the 30 day return policy. So much for your slogan that was branded across the front door, "[the customer's] satisfaction is our top priority." Do yourself a favor and buy something online from somewhere other than here or Musician's Friend.

    Keyboard Stand Collapse

    By Steve

    from Dallas

Comments about Proline PL400 Double X-Braced Keyboard Stand:

We purchased the Proline PL400 keyboard stand as it appeared to provide a sturdy design to hold our new Kawai MP6. After 4 months the keyboard stand suddenly collapsed, damaging the keyboard. It appears that the retaining pins and pin receiver are poorly designed and subject to complete failure without warning. This is a documented issue on GC website, but GC continues to sell these faulty stands, jeopardizing your keyboard and equipment. WARNING - DO NOT PURCHASE THIS STAND!

Comments about Proline PL400 Double X-Braced Keyboard Stand:

We had to assemble this product ourselves. It was ridiculously hard to assemble and completely fell apart the first time. The screws they give you to attach the parts don't have holes to screw them into! You have to screw them into metal as far as they'll go and hope the pressure holds the stand together. Took us an hour and a half to get this standing and hopefully it doesn't fall apart when there's weight on it!
