I picked up two of these on clearance. Apparently the product will no longer be carried by GC. Good idea! The two I grabbed and took home were note functional - neither pole screwed into either base! It appeared that the size was the same but the thread pitch was different between bases and poles. I took them back and confused two of the guys behind the counter. (This should just WORK, man!) The manager was a little less confused. He said it was not at all uncommon. He was happy to replace with in-stock product. Unfortunately, we went through and tested quite a few before we found two complete mic stands that fit together. One is a little wobbly, but I can deal with that. For $10, this is not a bad buy. Make sure it works and all fits together before leaving the store ... It is a clearance item. It works and it is solid. Caveat emptor.

Comments about Proline MS235 Round Base Microphone Stand:

I like the round base because I can drag it around on stage and move about, then set it back upright without worrying about tripod legs. The base is heavy enough to hold my mic and iPad holder on one stand when there isn't enough room for two stands. The base has a threaded hole in the top that you screw the outter tube into and theres a wing nut included so you can adjust the depth to fully tighten the tube to the base. The little clip that comes with it will hold the mic cable close to the stand, but I don't really use it. The stand has a handgrip for the height adjustment collar; I've had some difficulty adjusting the height "on the fly" because I initially tightened the collar too much and instead of loosening the coupler, I started to unscrew the tubing from the base.

        Not recommended for iPad stand

Comments about Proline MS235 Round Base Microphone Stand:

It may be sturdy and cheap, but when using it as an iPad stand it lacks a strong enough base to maintain its balance. You find your iPad crashing to the floor in the midst of playing a song. True it's marketed as a mike stand, and it probably fills that function admirably as other reviews attest, but my sales agent at GC recommended it to go along with my iPad holder and for this its unsuitable.

        Good stand, but watch out!

        By Paul Brown

Comments about Proline MS235 Round Base Microphone Stand:

I actually bought the chrome version on sale for $10.00, BUT I read other reviews and tried to assemble it in the store. Staff couldn't make the threads screw into the base. They got out two more from stock and we switched bases until we found a combination that fit. Once assembled, I have no complaints. Lesson: only accept an assembled unit at the store.

Comments about Proline MS235 Round Base Microphone Stand:

I ordered this item online and picked up at the local GC store. It's a decent product for the money and I would recommend to anyone looking for functionality and just an all around decent stand. Thanks for reading my review!

        No frills, but functional

        By Mike Abney

Comments about Proline MS235 Round Base Microphone Stand:

The telescoping works well. The base is heavy enough to make the stand fairly stable. It also rocks reasonably easily if you are the type to want it to do so. It does not come with a microphone clip, but that is fairly standard. I was able to catch this on sale for about ten dollars. At that price, I think it is a great deal.

        Great Stand Low price.

        By Tim Taylor

        from Rocky Mount, NC

Comments about Proline MS235 Round Base Microphone Stand:

I guess I'm a bit "old school" but I don't not like tripod mic stands. Sure they collapse for easy hauling but they take up too much space on stage for me and they tip over too easily for my taste. I prefer this type of stand with a weighted base for the above mentioned reasons. I got two of these for the price of one. Mine were offered in chrome when I bought mine. Once again my "old school" side tends to stand out.
